Transfer Video from Samsung Galaxy S3 to my computer

I'm so thankful for you post!! this solved the problem I was having for months now! I was running out of room on my phone. Thank you :).

I think you may just have to change your usb option on the phone so it is connected as a media device rather than a camera, then you will see the video files as well as photos in the folder. I just had the same issue and that seemed to solve it. Use the top pull down menu and click where it says 'ongoing..connected as ...touch for other usb options'.

Awesome that worked for me Cheers!!

Thank god for Google! I have a ton of videos on my new camera and could not figure out why the heck only pictures would show up when I tried to upload -- I was starting to freak out a bit! This worked perfectly thank you!

Go into your photos. Create and name a new folder. Drag your videos into your new folder.
Now you will be able to go into Files > Pictures > new folder, and drag the videos to your computer.

I am trying to transfer pictures & videos from my phone to my laptop to clear up some phone storage. I cannot find the videos in any folder on my phone when I look at these folders on my laptop. HELP! I am going to have to just delete them from my phone if I can't find any help with how to do this.
I have looked in EVERY folder. I can see the picture files but the videos do not show.

EASIEST FASTEST way! :) had this problem with my Samsung s3 only pics and not videos show up into the dcim folder and nothing in picture but without any downloaded software or any other websites JUST USB I was simply able to copy my videos (using the samsung s3) from my gallery to the "screenshots" folder. Then when you access the phone on your computer your videos will be inside the pictures folder in the screenshots folder! :)

I also had the same problem. I was tired of searching for a solution. So then I thought of maybe just converting the video to another format and it worked.

1. Connect your phone via USB to computer.
2. Open the notifications bar at top of phone.
In order to see the details about any notifications you can pull down the notification bar like a drop down curtain, just slide your finger from the top of the screen down-wards. You can then see the details about a notification by pushing the item, e.g. if you have a notification for an SMS or email, you can see the SMS or email text by pushing that its notification. To dismiss all notifications you push the Clear button.
With Android 4 and newer you can also access the notifications from the lock-screen. Furthermore you can dismiss each notification by sweeping it left or right.
3. Scroll down and you will see the little USB symbol and the text "Connected as a media device" with the text "Touch for other USB options" .
4. Tap this item to open
5. Tap the box next to Media device (MTP) so that a check mark is in the box and not Camera (PTP)
6. Go to camera on computer drives and look in Phone>DCIM>Camera. Both photos and mp4 files should now appear.

Thanks for mentioning this simple setting solution Samantha. Exactly what I was hoping for Thank You!! ;)

Hey, i got my video show up again thanks 2 ur advice switching from PPT to MPT...just hola back\^^/

It was so easy it's almost too easy. All I did was connect the phone to pc via USB, swipe down on the phone, switch from Camera (PTP) to Media (MTP), opened up my files, and looked for DCIM. All the videos were there.

Here is what just worked for me. On the phone I moved the video to the smvvm file. Then from the computer I moved the video to a folder on my PC.

Same thing happened to me. I wanted to import my videos that i had recorded on my phone but with i opened up the storage on the computer i would go to camera but never see the videos i looked around the memory and never found the videos but on the phone the videos were on the camera. What i did was go to My Files on the cell phone then go to videos I selected all the videos and moved it to a different folder. I then checked the storage on the computer and wala it was there.

thank you, switching how the tablet was connected to the pc, was exactly my problem. thanks so much for this helpful info. Before, when I had it connected as a camera, mp4's were invisible to me when trying to find them through the file system on a pc. Switching to how I was connected, showed me they were right there along side my pictures in the same folder and allowed me to transfer them over to the pc.

Thank you! Exactly the answer that I needed and super easy to do! So easy, it kind of makes me wonder how I didn't figure it out myself...:p
