unable to OTA update to VD

My son's phone has been prompting him to install the VD update, but we are running into some problems.

After accepting the update and rebooting, the phone boots into Thunder recovery and is unable to install the update because it is not signed properly. He is currently on VC and is rooted.

I've tried to locate the LG Software updater utility, but it looks as if LG has removed it from their site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Flash the stock recovery and apply the OTA update

Alternately

I don't beleive LG removed the update from their site. Most likely your son has a refurb phone. You could use KP500 to force flash ZVD. Instructions are in the reference section of the revert thread.
