Unlimited Data is back

Has anyone have to wait for their billing cycle to begin again for the new plan to take affect?

I don't see why you would have to wait. The only time I've ever been unable to switch plans mid-cycle is when I was lowering my data bucket. If you're moving up it should have an option for immediate or next cycle.

Thinking of switching from straight talk on verizon to this. Anyone already have this plan that could answer a few questions?

Can i use unlocked phones like a nexus 6p? Or only verizon phones?

Can you switch phones just by switching your sim card? On straight talk you cant, you have to call them every time.

How would they possibly if know im using hotspot if im not using a verizon app for it? Is this something easily bypassed with root or third party apps?

Thanks

You can use the Nexus 6P and the Google Pixel on Verizon.

You can switch phones by inserting your SIM card into another phone so long as it has the correct bands to support Verizon.

As for the Hotspot, I believe talking about bypassing Verizon's app is against the Terms of Service here so I am not going to answer that one.

Also The factory sim unlocked s7, s7 edge,Nexus 5x , Nexus 6, moto x pure edition, moto g4, and iPhone (5 and up) would work on Verizon.

Keep in mind that non Verizon branded phones will show up as non Verizon phone and Verizon might provide very limited support should you have issues.

This is true. On my account it shows my Pixel XL as a "NON VZW PIXEL XL" for my number.

Anyone know if one of these new plans set up for a phone can be used in a mifi/hotspot device without 10gb hotspot limit being imposed?

I posted this in another thread but I have a mifi on its own line. It's listed as an unlimited line that I'm getting charged a $20 access fee for. Tethering refers to using a phone's internet access. That's why they call it tethering. The mifi is a dedicated device only used for wifi. Not sure where the confusion is coming from but no way I'd pay $20 for a separate line with the tethering limits. Maybe they are placing those requirements on new mifi devices? This line has been active as a mifi line for about 4-5 years.

By the way, even though there is no corporate discount on the new UDP, I still get a 25% accessory discount. That might be a loyalty discount, I have now been on VZW 17 years, according to the VZW store employee who swapped my plan this week.

Well accessories are usually way overpriced anyway... But good to know for those do do buy them.

Yeah, VZW is generally MSRP on them. I walked out with a Pixel, glass screen protector and Otterbox Commuter case installed, because I'm paranoid.

Yeah, this is normal. The corporate discount is still going to be active on your account but you will not get a discount on your service. You will still receive 25% off accessories but I can't say this would help me. I don't remember the last time I bought an accessory in store. On my current phone, I bought the phone from Verizon but ordered a case from Amazon (Candyshell Grip) and had Apple install a Belkin protector with the machine they use for installation. Verizon lost on price and peace of mind no matter what.

Anyone use one of their phone sims in anything but a phone such as a hotspot device without issues?

After I created this thread I felt like maybe I could benefit from unlimited data. I'd just stop watching my usage and stream on whenever I chose to. But unlike some of you machines, I just can't use that much data while I'm away from home!

Verizon support is telling me this is a no contract plan, with no cancellation fee. But on the checkout page it's asking for my social for a credit check. Even when I try to use my own phone.

And this guy keeps pushing me to submit my order I don't get it.

Mike: Hi! You picked a great device. How can I help you today?
You: is there a contract or cancellation fee for the unlimited plan
Mike: Welcome to Verizon Wireless Sales chat!
You: i thought it was prepaid but i just saw now it's not
You: ?
Mike: The unlimited plan is not offered with Prepaid.
Mike: Just to be sure, are you an existing Verizon Wireless customer?
You: no i use straight talk
You: You: is there a contract or cancellation fee for the unlimited plan
Mike: If you have your own phone, there is no contract or cancellation fees.
Mike: If you purchase a new phone with device payments you will be under contract for as long as you pay for the phone. You can pay off and go month to month at any time.
You: ok, i have no plans to buy a phone, i want to use my own. but this is a post- paid plan, so how is there no contract? do they do a credit check?
You: how do i go month to month from the start?
You: bring your own device page?
You: i tried that already and it went to "due today: $0, due monthly: $85"
Mike: Yes, you wuld the BYOD page to do that,
Mike: No credit check when you bring your own phone.,
You: ok thanks, thats what im trying to do now, i must have messed up somewhere before
Mike: No worries!
Mike: What page are you on now?
You: sim card, i tryped in my phones IMEI and it went through, now im typing in my sim
You: i already have one i bought a while ago
Mike: Was the sim accepted?
You: i think so, but it brings me to checkout page where it shows my phone as part of the order
Mike: Great!
Mike: Your'e on the right track!
Mike: Let's finish up!
You: yeah back to the same page as before, asking for my social security number to run a credit check
Mike: The credit card information is being requested to verify your identity for your protection. The card information is not stored, and if nothing is due today your card will not be charged.
You: not credit card
You: credit check
You: "I agree to allow Verizon Wireless to run a credit bureau check using the information I provided in order to process my order."
Mike: It uses that info to run the check.
Mike: Would you like to enter that info and finish up?
You: Mike: No credit check when you bring your own phone.,
Mike: We will need you to put in your card information, this is because the site calculates the taxes of your order from the billing information of your card, but have no worries!
Mike: If there are no taxes due, no charges will be made.
Mike: Ready to finish up?

Um, yeah... I feel like he isn't even reading your concern.

The credit check is done for purchasing a phone on a device payment plan and it is used to determine if you will pay $0 down or a % is the MSRP as a down payment. It is also done in some cases when signing up for service on a postpaid account. For obvious reasons.
