ooks like more devs are getting into the mix to speed this up. Although the Epic maybe last in line but they have not given up! It will be coming!

does anyone care to explain what exactly is CyanogenMod, and why are so many excited over this? thanks

Guys, you're actually way luckier than I am. I can't get cyanogenmod to flash with either Amon Ra or ClockworkMod custom recovery. You guys will probably have more access to Cyanogenmod than I do, lol!

I got it working once, but almost ended up bricking my Evo.

no froyo for epic yet. shoudn't be long now though. try something like skyfire in the meantime to play flash.

Actually, the first post shows it is running. Noobnl got it running. its useless now though. He doesn't even say what works... but considering he just mentions boot, I wouldn't expect much working.

Aww and I was starting to get excited :(

To the previous two replies:
CyanogenMod has value after the official 2.2 from Samsung/Sprint is rolled to the Epic. Cyanogen is essentially "AOSP" (Android Open Source Project), meaning it is pure Android without any manufacturer/carrier junk on it. In theory (and usually, in practice), faster, less bloat. Out of the gates, it is customized to what these developer/users like, instead of what the manufacturer/carriers like.

Also, CyanogenMod 6 is based on Android 2.2 "Froyo".

Still in the developmental phase. AFAIK it's only one guy working on it (noobnl), so it's probably a ways off.
