[Updated 4/20] Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

Did you check your order online? When I emailed them, they cancelled it like 2 hours before I got the confirmation email. So check the status online.

I just checked and they canceled it, thanks. Now I can relax and decide what o want to do. I will try tmobile or just switch back to AT&T.

FYI, I got some more info on this.

Delay probably won't be as bad as you might have feared. And it sounds like it's really not HTC's fault.

Good to hear, I checked my order status and although it says Unknown for when, they did upgrade it to Free Overnight shipping. Worth not going to AT&T and getting one locked down and with bloatware... and not paying $600+tax doesn't hurt either...

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

Without looking, are they giving "held up in customs" as the reason?

Nope, flooding in midwest and Boston terrorism. Which if the distros for the phones were not in TX and CA... I'd be ok with.

Yea I saw that. The flooding might be more realistic of a reason, but not Boston.

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

This infuriated me when I read it, so much that I had to say something. I hope no one is actually accepting that as a valid excuse.

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

I just cancelled my dev order and ordered a Tmo branded one.

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

I don't buy these excuses. None of my other shipments for anything else have been delayed. I'm also still being charged for overnight shipping.

Well yea, the reasons don't really add up at least not Boston or the West chemical explosion. I could somehow buy the flooding if a distro center was affected but not the marathon bombing or factory explosion.

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

I don't think I buy the flooding/bombing explanation either. Last night, the escalation team told me my phone would ship last night or today. No mention of global shipping delays.

Re: Order directly from HTC? Dev edition and unlocked version DELAYED

Because there aren't any.

Yeah makes you wonder because AT&T has been shipping devices out all week. And I would assume they got their stock from HTC this week as well. Well we'll see.

With a 23% discount, it is LOL.

So true but I only get 21% through my company, which still is pretty good. I'm sticking with tmo anyway.

Yeah TMO is alright with me. I have no gripes at all with them ;)

I only hate Sprint.

According to LetsTalk's website, one of their activation and distribution centers is in Dallas, which is close enough to West that it could conceivably have been affected in terms of traffic in and out of the city. The other activation and distribution center they list on their website is in Libertyville, IL, which is a suburb near Chicago. The governor of Illinois declared a state of emergency today, and apparently flights to and from Chicago's airports are all SNAFU'd, so I'd tend to believe that flooding in the Midwest is screwing with things a bit. Still, I just canceled my order with them.
