Updating from 1.0, help!

A friend of mine has an HTC hero phone. While chatting online i was asking him some questions about his google maps and about the new google buzz, and i was shocked to find he's still been running 1.0 firmware.

Back when i was running it on my G1, updating was a breeze, and i found manual updates for 1.5 and 1.6 soon after, just putting it in the memory card, renaming update.zip, you know the whole deal...

but for his HTC hero, its impossible!!! Ive been googling for near 2 hours, and i cant find anything at all whatsoever! Whats the latest firmware running on an htc hero, and if he needs to update to 1.5, then 1.6, where in the world can i find those zip files for him?

If anyone can share a link, maybe upload the files to share, i'd appreciate it tremendously, thank you

Sprint Hero is at 1.5. No update without rooting. Flashing Rom and losing Bluetooth. Update is coming next month to 2.1. So tell him to be patient.

I doubt its coming next month, there's been nothing confirming that.

could always try just running the 1.5 RUU he will lose all saved data but that would update it.
