Urbane 2nd Edition LTE watch CANCELLED!

Re: Watch release cancelled

OK here's a conspiracy theory.. The recall was announced the day before Verizon launch what if the instability is related to CDMA antennas for Verizon. But because of contractual obligations. They had to recall for both ATT and Verizon vs just pulling from Verizon?... Man I'm stretching to keep this watch.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Well for the near future, unless this device blows up.........I'm keeping mine.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Yup I'm thinking of keeping mine too. OK so let's say they never release any more software updates for this. The way I see it, its already ahead of the curve by being the first on marshmallow. I'd be happy with this OS for at least the next year.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Darn it! I really like this watch. Now I'm worried it'll no longer get updates. Why doesn't LG explain why. Is their a health risk? If it's a big defect, they should have a recall and explain a reason.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Has anyone who has the watch actually been notified by At&t or LG? I really like the watch and would like to keep it. Ive already gotten rid of my G watch R, so if this is true, it truly sucks!

Re: Watch release cancelled

Does that mean I can return it later than 14 days after purchase? I'd like to at least keep it a bit and see if there are any issues. Of course, it would help if they stated what exactly the issues are.

I was thinking of returning mine before the announcement, because my Tmo wearables sim is not working with it, and actually, the wearables sim no longer works with my Gear S either now. That's 100% T-mobile's fault, though.

It also undercounts my steps by thousands, and is a bit uncomfortable to wear on my wrist size, while the larger Gear S is comfortable to wear due to the curved display.

However, now that I read about the recall, I am leaning towards keeping it, because who knows when the next unlocked AW LTE watch with a user accessible sim slot (no esim crap for me!) will be released.

I think you should keep it until your carrier or the place you bought it send out a recall notice. Not every consumer follow these blogs, so I would think you can return it even after 3 months.

I don't think you can. You have 14 days to return it and if you're not a AT&T customer your SoL. I bought the watch outright and I'm not a AT&T customer so there's no way they can contact me about this. They'll most likely tell you to contact LG.

As for me I'm on the fence about this. I really want to keep it but I'm afraid they won't honor the warranty if anything goes wrong. I'll think about it this weekend.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Just an update and I'm surprise no one has called LG to ask about this. I just got off the phone with a CSR and she told me no one has told her anything about LG canceling the Urbane 2. She even put me on hold to go talk to marketing and they said there's no cancellation of the watch.

She asked me how I found out about this and I told her, on here, lol. So I directed her to the website and she found the topic. She'll be reporting this to the marketing department and if anything happens she'll call me back. I'm not holding my breath on this part.

Supposedly the rumor is from what I've read from the T-mobile thread on here, someone mentioned that the carriers are unhappy with the watch being unlocked. I have ot wonder if this is the true reason why it's getting recalled. My gut tells me it's either AT&T or Verizon complaining about it. I'm leaning towards Verizon since they delayed their release.

Re: Watch release cancelled

This is all over the internet now. ATT has removed it from their site as well. Kind of crazy that the LG rep didn't know anything.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I love the looks of the watch but unless they say something soon I am taking this back to ATT.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I did just read one article with a theory that the carriers were pissed because it was unlocked. You could buy it from att and use on t-mobile. May have been the reason for the cancelation.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Would make sense considering that Verizon is charging $200 more for the watch. Can you imagine how much profit they are losing if people just buy it from At&t for $300 then put their Verizon sim in?

Verizon is not a GSM carrier. So, it won't work.
