Urbane 2nd Edition LTE watch CANCELLED!

Re: Watch release cancelled

Not sure but what do you think of the Gear S2?

It's nice. I'm happy with it. I don't really want to get much into it because this is a urbane forum. However, I do have a thread in the Gear S2 forum for verizon gear s2 and am taking questions over there.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Maybe a hardware issue with BT? I can't seem to pair my BT stereo headphones. My watch doesn't even see it but my phone can. Anybody else?

Re: Watch release cancelled

No problem with BT stereo headphones. But it is only good for anything but phone calls. But that is a software limitation not worth the recall for.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Well regardless of possible reasons, I'll be keeping mine. Yeah its only been a few days with the watch, but it has been a few days of heavy usage bliss. This is the first smart watch, that I have ever used, that does everything well, (well at least the things that are important for me to have in a smartwatch). So a later patch not coming for my device, (can't speak for others owners), won't be so bad for me, since everything I want to work....works great already, and if I return it, what other option is out there? All the other watches I tried don't work as good as this one for the things I want to work.....and this one has the best battery life to boot. Besides, I don't know why everyone thinks a software update won't come. Google controls android wear, an I don't think their going to not update their software.

If they scrap this one and release a new one a year from now, I'll check out that option when that bridge is crossed, but in the mean time, i'm keeping this bad boy.

Oh and if anyone has every used watchmaker before (lets you design your own watch faces), It appears to be working great for me. Just a heads up.

I'd love to keep mine, too, but it would stink if it breaks in a few months with no support from LG and still under contract with AT&T (I doubt they'd mind taking my money, though). Plus, they would probably cancel my insurance since it's been recalled.

I wonder if the defect has to do with the LTE antenna in the band. Break the band, lose the signal

Re: Watch release cancelled

I did just read one article with a theory that the carriers were pissed because it was unlocked. You could buy it from att and use on t-mobile. May have been the reason for the cancelation.

Nope.

Re: Watch release cancelled

The LG Health heart rate monitor is waaaaayyy off! It has my HR around 180bpm while just walking. Google fit doesn't have this problem.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I want to know what the problem is because I actually like the watch. I called today and nothing. Told me to call AT&T. This is some mess. I got mine early last week and have learn how it works and now this recall.

Re: Watch release cancelled

So if a person bought it from a brick and mortar store and wants to return it outside the return period will it be ok because of the current 'hardware' issue?

Re: Watch release cancelled

How can they give us a vague statement and expect us to return the watch when it works perfectly fine outside of the Bluetooth voice call issue. Something is very fishy about this recall in my opinion.

Re: Watch release cancelled

They accidentally used gold instead of some other metal. Thus making each watch approximately worth $1200 USD.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Neither AT&T or LG has told my watch has been "recalled". In fact, all the press release says is that the watch release has been cancelled. So until I hear about an actual recall from the carrier or manufacturer I'm keeping it. When I do get a notice then I will decide whether to keep or go with the S2 which I looked at the AT&T store today. Manager said they hadn't heard anything about customers being notified, were just told to send back stock and take it off display.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I forget who said it, but it was on another podcast I think, but that thing was bulky and the guy hated it.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I've had mine since Tuesday and the thing's been perfect, I love this thing. "Ok Google" is flawless for me with texting and calling, speaker sounds great and mic is awesome. No way I'm just giving it back right now with no info, especially since it sounds like there aren't plans to fix and re-release it. I haven't been contacted either but glad I bought it outright through AT&T.

Well, I'm obviously insane since I'm wearing a U2LTE on my left wrist and S2 on my right wrist all day (to test out Bluetooth and wifi, etc), and neither is what I'd call bulky (on my not particularly large wrists). The S2 reminds me of a Swatch, and the U2LTE more of a mariner watch. Neither are heavy or awkward, but might pose a problem with dress shirts. I really like them both, and they need to have sex, cause I'd definitely want to wear their progeny.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Yup I'm absolutely loving this watch. I plan on keeping mine. As for support. It's already ahead of the curve by being on Marshmallow. If I get a good 1-2 years out of it before apps start requiring upgrades then I will be happy.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Just to lighten things up a bit...could you imagine what that poor fella who found the hardware issue earlier this week felt? I wonder how that convo went when he finally mustered up the courage to go to his boss.

"Uuummmm yyyeeeaaaa. We have an issue"

Re: Watch release cancelled

it's already months ahead of any other android wear watch so who cares about updates. I had the moto for a year and only had ONE useful update. If i get a year out of this LG i'm fine with that..
