Urbane 2nd Edition LTE watch CANCELLED!

Re: Watch release cancelled

Well here's my chat with yet another LG CSR

Eunice: Hello Dang Yang. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
Dang Yang: hi, i am wondering about my watch the LG Urbane 2 and why it was cancel. I am not satisfy with the current "hardware issue" that i keep seeing on the itnernet
Dang Yang: i want to what excatly is wrong, the antenna? the OPED display?
Dang Yang: i need to know so i can determine if i should keep it or not
Eunice: I am very sorry to inform you that there are hardware malfunction on the device so we are still determining the main concern of the watch itself.
Eunice: If you want I can get your email address or any contact number for updates once it's available.
Dang Yang: you mean to tell me you still havent figured out what the issue is?
Eunice: yes, Dang.
Dang Yang: so what happens to those that want to keep the watch beyond the 14 day return?
Dang Yang: are we gonna get screwed over on our warranty?
Eunice: That we do not have information since we already stopped manufacturing one.
Dang Yang: so as of right now i got 5 days laft if i dont take it back and 5 months down the road, it breaks i'm screwed?
Eunice: Sad to say but we recommend that you send it back, Dang for your convenience.
Dang Yang: so i'm right, if i keep it i'm taking a huge risk because LG will not honor thier warranty
Eunice: Sad to9 say but yes.
Dang Yang: thank you for your honesty
Eunice: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Dang Yang: no, thank you for your time
Eunice: Once again, I really do apologize on the inconvenience this may have caused you.
Eunice: Thank you for your time and patience. It has been a pleasure to assist you today. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Thank you for choosing LG Electronics. We appreciate your business. Have a great day!
Notice: Eunice has exited the chat session.

There you have it, if you keep it you are taking a chance LG will not guarantee you have a warranty. You get your money back while you can or you take your chances. I guess LG is really clueless.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Another clueless CSR to say the least. You can't deny warranty service if you don't officially recall the product.

Re: Watch release cancelled

This sucks, guess I am going to take this thing back and wait until next year. Hoping someone will come out with a connected watch on android. I just don't feel confident that Tizen will get the support to sustain itself.

I am keeping mine, there is no date on when the item needs to be returned with ATT so might as well keep it and see how it goes..

The date it needs to be returned is no later than 14 days after purchase

That's the regular return policy, this is not a recall just a recommendation to return. That's why the whole issue is confusing to everyone. This has to be the most miscommunication of a tech issue that I have ever herd of.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I really don't feel the issue is confusing we all know they want you to return the device and everyone should still be within their return period. It only gets confusing when we try to go against the grain and keep it.

The return policy is not confusing the "hardware" issue with the watches are what I'm talking about. The Vague statement that they are giving us is the issue.

Then, send us an official notice. Not everyone get their news from blog sites.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Just returned mine at Att I would have liked to keep it but oh well. No issues at the store and they said 1 - 2 billing cycles for the additional $100 credit.

I've still not gotten any word from LG or AT&T about returning the watch or there being a recall about it.

I'm not returning mine based on a vague statement made to the Internet press. I fully expect support for the standard warranty.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Why doesn't LG even have anything about this on their website? Nothing at all anywhere except for consumers having to contact them directly and blogs. If it was that crucial, they would've made some type of public statement.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I haven't received any communication for LG or AT&T about the watch. If LG is not going to honor the warranty without any communication to the customer, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. I'll be waiting to see an official communication from AT&T or LG about this.

Gotta agree. Im loving this watch and Im not coming off of it until I am told to do so directly from the manufacturer or retailer I bought it from.

Re: Watch release cancelled

This Friday marks end of the 14-day return period for many early adopters. It seems neither LG, nor AT&T, is interested to issue any type of official recall to those who already bought the watch. So, as it sits now, it is cancelled but not yet recalled. If my watch fails within a year, I'm expecting LG to fully support it for warranty replacement (probably send me the ones that shipped back from AT&T).

This is actually a good point, and in this case, a refurbished one is still a pretty new one. I am having second thoughts about saying goodbye to mine, because it does work seamlessly with my phone, which my Gear S never did to this extent when I still had a Samsung phone, and because whatever new LTE watches will be released next, will likely cost more and be carrier locked in the US, or worse, have esim.

After dealing with T-mobile all week to have my wearables sim unlocked/reprovisioned, only to see it get locked again as soon as I register it on their network, I am pretty sure that they will only support embedded sims for their wearables plans going forward.

In other words, this LG watch may end up more of a rarity than it already is :(

Re: Watch release cancelled

I got 6 days to decide what I want to do. I'm still trying to see what the problem is. If it's the antennae not being prefect I can live with it. If it's the display, that might be a different story. I'm leaning towards the antenna because it's different from the one they put on the Urbane LTE which is a world watch not released in the U.S. Well that's my hope anyways lol. I can live without LTE and just 3G.
Same here, I can live with 3G, but it sounded like something will stop working at some point during its life, not like something was shipped already malfunctioning.
Then again, with the vague statement they issued, it could be anything. As long as it's not a safety hazard, they may not need to legally disclose anything.

Re: Watch release cancelled

So according to ATT website, search LG Urbane 2 LTE, it shows that there is a recall for the device. It also shows that ATT is offering one of two things. 1 Return device in exchange for the Samsung Gear S2. 2 Return device for a full refund + 100 credit to be applied in 1-2 billing cycles. I want to be clear, NO WHERE on this page does it state that the device needs to be returned by, 1. 14 purchase period 2. Any given date. It clearly states the 2 choices given by ATT. I have taken a screen shot and will use that against st ATT should I device to return the device after the 14 days. Plus I I've not had any issues with my LG Urbane LTE that would want me to return the device. Thank you.

Link to the aforementioned advisory:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...l%23%21%2Fwireless%2FKM1063424&token=3b2d8gMW

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE you recently purchased may experience a hardware issue over time. We are offering you the choice of either:
•Exchanging your LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE for the Samsung Gear S2.
OR
•Returning your LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE for a full refund.

AT&T is also giving you a $100 credit that will be applied to your bill within 1-2 billing cycles. No action is required on your part.

It seems that every one will get a $100 bill credit regardless if you return the watch or not, based on the wording of the advisory. So, for $199, I definitely will keep mine.

This of course will not apply to those who are not AT&T customers (no way to receive that $100 bill credit).

So the way I read that, your choices are to 1) return it or 2) return it. I wonder if there's a 3rd scenario where we choose to keep it, and still get the $100.

Also if I did keep it, you don't think they would cut my cellular service to it, seeing that it's an unsupported device? That should not be an issue right?

You're right for $199, keeping it is not going to hurt the bank as much.

Umm I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to return the watch to get the credit. They're not gonna just give anyone $100 for owning the watch and not returning it.

I do have a chat session with AT&T, but apparently it needs mod approval to be display. A short answer, AT&T says they'll cover the warranty.
