US release date could be July 12th!

Judynnnn, I pre-ordered mine on Sunday. So July 8.

Just read this over at xda-developers forum about the Nexus 7...
"Gamestop has begun shipping orders to stores.... BUT Google!!!!! yes FING Google is holding the release date hostage. What I mean by this is that they were supposed to begin selling the tablets on thursday, but Google from what my friend knows called a hold and NO ONE knows when the official date will be. It could still be this week, but for some reason Google hit the pause button, I'll share more as I get more info."

Another person said he heard the same thing today. I don't know whether I believe it or not, but just reporting what I've read elsewhere.

So I just got off the phone with UPS. The guy was very nice because "Google messed up my replacement phone order, that I desperately need, and failed to provide me a tracking number". I gave him my address and said I expected the shipment by Thursday. After a long hold he returned to say that they have no records of a shipment matching my address, but added that if I sign up for UPS My Choice, I will get a notification as soon as my shipment enters the system. FWIW

From the looks of everything I've read. I am going to say that shipping will start tomorrow, and that retailers will not be able to sell the product until all units have been received from the Google Play store first.

At least that is the way I am going to make sense of all this.

Here's my thinking. Google will not allow stores to sell them until two days after the pre orders ship. Some might get it in a day some two. So say they ship tomorrow the stores would get the OK to sell Friday. Just a thought. Its not like Google will tell the stores to sell Friday and then ship the pre orders a few weeks later.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds as though stores like GameStop and Office Depot might be getting the N7 before those of us who pre-ordered directly from Google will. If that's the case, I can't say I'm going to be very happy about it. What's the point of a pre-order if retailers get it before we do?

It doesn't appear so any longer. From the picture above of the Google release notice it seems that Google might be forcing retailers to wait before they sell their tablets. That way play store preorders can be first.

Edit....You never know, maybe someone from Google is monitoring these forums and seeing that people would be pissed if retailers sold theirs before all the people that ordered from google got their tabs.

Yep Yep!! According to the dates, and the fact that the tablets are at the UPS hubs as we speak. I think tomorrow we'll start seeing some emails from UPS.

Well today i walked into gamestop and traded both my sony tablet s and galaxy tab 8.7 and a white 32 gig ipod touch to gamestop. Got back well over 300 worth of gamestop credit and paid the tablet off in full. And like 3 other games i put $5 down cause the reps kept pushing me. Anyway the guy said i should be in the second wave but my receipt shows this thrusday. Anyone care to explain?

im going to take a shot in the dark and say theyre holding them until the units actually get delviered to the pre orders. Gamestop inparticular have a bad reputation of breaking street dates so maybe theyre doing this to try to keep them from selling it early by giving them little to no info. Just me speculating.

I said by Thursday originally, then when he returned and said he couldn't find it in the system I asked if he could extend the date out a week. He said it didn't matter when I expected to receive it, only if it was in the system yet, which it's not.

Idk how long it takes UPS to do shipping labels on a huge bulk order like this but I was kind of disappointed. I really was looking for, "Yes I found your package, it's on hold in ____________."

I kind of ordered it June 30th but it depends on what time zone they are considering. Google Play says June 30th but Google wallet says "Order Date: June 29, 2012 9:17:46 PM UTC-7 "

I was thinking of calling but decided to just wait and see if it arrives. I have yet to see any charges to my Credit Card.

I bought this as a gift for my wife who's bday was July 7th. I gave her three gifts (jelly beans, number 7, and transformer toys) that were clues and then gave her a hint saying "she would have to search for it". It took her a while to figure out what the gift was. She's excited but I think I am even more excited to get it. Hopefully she will let me use it.

Those hints were a really good idea.

Before I even got to that box however, there was an email sent to the stores (which was linked earlier) stating that the release date has been pushed back to a TBD date.

Believe me if you want, or dont, but after opening that box, reading that email, and realizing I couldn't take it home, I was crushed

I can't imagine them barring the retails from selling it for long. Best theory I've got is that they don't want the Google Play customers getting shafted and getting theirs after the retail people.

Either way...SOON!

Youm may not have to wait til August 7th. I preordered on July 9th and the Google representative said the second wave could end up having it on July 27th.

I hope you are right about the google play preorders. I've been watching this thread pretty much since I ordered and can't stop hitting refresh. I think I am addicted and I haven't even received it yet.

At least we know that GameStop has them. Now that GameStop has them and cannot release
Them yet...can we at least now work on the release dates for the Vizio Google tv with On Live and the Wii U. Lol
