US release date could be July 12th!

I'd caution patience. Even if it doesn't come this week. A few days ago people were happy about rumors of a 17th shipping date. I would not be at all surprised to learn that the 12th date is a fake lead aimed at making the first google tablet look like it missed its launch. I'd be super excited to get it Thursday, but the world will spin, the sun will rise some of you will kiss your partners as you go to work. It will get here.

I'd just hate to see people angry about a rumor

Well put brother.

Dude I'm mobile

I have read a few posts on here that mentioned UPS has them in the hubs waiting for shipment. If this is true, what if someone just calls the hub that their tab will be shipping from and tells them that they have a package of yours and when will they be delivering it? I highly doubt that the UPS workers were told anything about the "secret" ship date of the nexus.

I doubt they are in your local UPS hub, where your local brown truck gets his packages. UPS does order fulfillment for many companies. (so does fedex). The way this works is, the container of nexi (is that a word) arrives at their fulfillment center. As far as I know, this will be done in Louisville. Google never touches the product. They send the info, electronically to UPS with the shipment info and UPS picks the product, packs it and put a label on it. Google is totally out of the picture. I can guarantee, all the shipment are in a secure area and someone knows the product can not be released until Google says so.

Calling your local UPS location wont do anything. This is how large scale order fulfillment works.

Think about it. Google is a web, search, software company. They dont really sell hardware or do distribution. They dont have the facilities to handle this. It doesnt make logical sense for them to try to do this. Trust me, every one of your shipment emails and tracking will show Louisville, KY as the origination point.

(I have a little inside info how this works).

I don't think those retailers would want to risk penalties. Google would find out due to UPC codes.

The UPC code is the same of every unit (different for 8gb and 16gb), but the serial numbers would be unique and most likely tied back to a retailer.

I am back with a few oz of rum in my system, and disappointment. I'm saddened by the man saying these are all rumors. Why must thou protest? I for one, welcome the rumors and acknowledge them. I incorporate them into my psyche and move forward with the belief that tomorrow will be the day I find out, slightly more information.

I was thinking that, but do they really not have them even boxed yet? I seriously doubt they would un-box each one and update it... So if they are already to ship, I am betting it will come with just 4.1 (and maybe a sticker saying "upgrade to 4.1.1 immediately" or something like that...
I cant imagine that happening. The UPS logistics people are warehousmen, they dont have the right skill set. Im guessing if the 4.1.1 thing is true, it will be available immediately as an OTA, however perhaps the holdup (if there is one, we really dont know), is because some bugs were identified and have been corrected, or are in the process of being corrected, and maybe whatever is being fixed is a show stopper. So they want to be sure the 4.1.1 release is fully tested and released before they ship the hardware......

Hey its just anyones guess, and I am just speculating.

Myself, I'm a Verizon Galaxy Nexus waiting room veteran.

I have learned to wait (either that, or I've resigned myself to the fact that I've finally been "trained" by The Man)...

That's simply untrue. I've talked to multiple GameStop employees who have said they have the tablet and were originally supposed to start handing out the pre-orders on the 12th. So obviously Google did miss their date or they want to be sure that those who ordered at chains won't get theirs first, which makes sense. Staples has also been confirmed saying that their dates were indeed correct. Now everything has been pushed back and nobody knows anything :(

I'm just wondering if the Nokia patent issue was ever resolved. It just popped in my head that might have been one of the issues for delays.

How is anything pushed back from a date that was never promised or specified by Google? Play Store N7 pre-orders should arrive before or on the same day when retail stores have them available to sell. When the pre-order consumers have to wait while retailers are selling the product they ordered a head of time would be bad business for Google. Hopefully everyone can get there N7 on same day but if there has to be a choice pre-orders from play store should come first. The play store is google's online retailer which had N7 official up for pre-orders so all retailers should come second.
IMHO

Google launching the N7 is like the situation my wife is going through being 8+ months pregnant. She knows the baby is coming soon, probably any day, but not sure exactly when. Biggest difference: a Nexus 7 tablet will not have dirty diapers to change.

I can't wait to finally recieve my nexus 7! Pre ordered it on play store so I'd better be getting it before it comes out in stores! Hoping and praying for the 12th. It will compliment my droid razr maxx nicely

I hope the issue is the whole fact of Google wanting to make sure their shipments are sent out and out for delivery when the retailers are allowed to start selling/giving away the pre-orders to the people who bought them. Hopefully that's soon and this week, I'd like to get my tablet as soon as possible. This site is taunting me, but at least I know it's not only me suffering, the rest of you are suffering right along with me. We are in this together, and together we will make it through this. I personally do think it would be unfair if I were to get mine from Gamestop and having not pre-ordered it until after those of you that pre-ordered it directly through Google right as soon as it went live to buy.

i just saw on gamestops website they have pre-orders available for screen protectors for $30.. that's crazy.. just a sheet of plastic
