Preordered 16GB version at google play on 28 Jun. I got the email from UPS My Choice today at 2:50pm EST quoting estimated delivery for Fri 13 Jul.

UPS status is showing only that shipping label has been generated and that delivery estimate will be updated. So sounds like Monday at the earliest.

If Google ships Friday, I won't get my pre order until Tuesday at the earliest based on past UPS performance.

I'm going to check a local store Saturday morning and see if I can score one in person. There's no good reason to pay an extra $14 for shipping unless it means I get one before the brick & mortar store customers.

Quick question: I haven't put in A pre order and I was expecting to pick it up on launch day from staples. Now I'm thinking of just ordering it from the play store. I don't want to wait too long on it. Advice?

if I hadn't already pre-ordered from google... I would make some calls around my town and see if I can find a retailer who isn't as up to date as us... and see if they have any on shelves and run grab one. if that didn't work I would try again tomorrow. I'm sure you can buy one on the same day as the google play shipments will arrive or sooner by just grabbing it.. AND save on the shipping costs ($13ish)

A playstation fanboy canceled so he could get a $500 3D tv for his PS3. I only payed $200 for his awesome 16 GB tablet and he hasn't even touched the thing.

As I just posted in the tax forum, it went on sale RETAIL today in Manhattan. I called Google and they still couldn't tell me when it was shipping. Bear in mind I ordered the day it was announced.
I cancelled the order. I figured I'd get it just as quick AND save a few bucks.
Pretty sad that their devoted customers don't get first shot... their loss.

Correct me if I'm wrong but did Google on Google play just update their nexus 7 page to say "ships soon"??? I don't remember it saying that before...... if you go too the Google play store and click on the nexus 7 and right under where you select which one you won't (8 or 16) it says ships soon. I don't remember that being there earlier???

I had to be one of the first pre-orders, did it early on the 27th, have not received any info on shipping. What worries me, shortly after I ordered it my debit card was hacked, I talked to the bank and let them know the unauthorized charges, made sure to point out the Nexus 7 order is good. Debit card was canceled and a new one issued, but they assured me (why don't I trust this statement?) the Nexus 7 charge would be honored. I did talk to Google to make them aware, not much they could do...hope it goes through as they said it would.
