US release date could be July 12th!

I kept watching vids, but then I got even more anxious! Had to stop lol! This shall be my first tablet as well, def not my first android device though!

I understand! I stopped watching Nexus 7 specific videos, but I'd still like to brush up on Android in general, specifically Jelly Bean. I'm sure I'll catch on quickly just from general usage, but there are always little tricks and such that aren't immediately apparent with use.

Alright. I woke up to this thread and spent about 45 min reading the 4-5 pages that came up while I was gone. And nothing...

Is there any chance that Google has no control over the actual shipping? Could ASUS be handling the shipping and Google Play was just one of many stores to Pre-Order from. ASUS could have shipped to GameStop, and then Google could have stepped in to prevent sales. ASUS could have set July 12 as the launch, without Google being ready/in the loop.

Just a thought!

Intersting that Google Play is still taking "Pre-Orders".

The point of the article is that the online retailers are able to start taking orders, not pre-orders. Which means they can ship them soon, which (I hope) means that our pre-orders will ship soon. Just trying to be optimistic. It's all a speculation game right now....

It used to be listed on the support.google.com Nexus 7 page, but it has been changed and no longer lists headphones.

What's in the box - Nexus Help

I'm very disappointed that they decided not to include headphones AFTER I found out that there would be headphones.

I would have rather not known about it in the first place. Even though its not going to be a high quality set, it still feels like you are getting more bang for your buck.

This is getting old. Never pre ordering again. I just want a date for when these things go out. I knew I should have just went on a bought a nice guitar pedal.

Good point. If other online retailers have moved on to "Orders" instead of "Preorders", the play store should as well. Maybe they're working SO HARD getting our orders out, they haven't had time to update the website. ;) Haha.

Apparently the word now is that gamestop computers are "Blocked" from selling them. So even if an employee tried it wouldn't happen.

Pre ordered from Google on the 28th. Just preordered from Sams Club, should have that 20th-24th and save roughly $40 between shipping and difference in tax(i ordered 2 on different orders from Google). Now just trying to cancel the Google order if i can ever get through.

I'm wishing that I would have done the same, myself. BTW, you won't be able to cancel the order, but you should be able to refuse delivery and get a refund.

I know i cant really cancel, but i want to try. Also just make sure that if i refuse i will not be charged shipping or anything. I figure it will be easy to cancel the Sams ordere at worst case scenario

Not very, google could say (without a doubt) the release date is July 21st, and 100% hit it. However, remember its in Google's best interest to ship this device ASAP, and that means they will remain on the very edge of when everything in the supply chain is ready to go. I dont think you have any idea what is involved in shipping products half way around the world and to your doorstep. If it were just you, no big deal, but Im sure Google is dealing with a volume they have not previously dealt with.

You tell me that I have no idea what is involved in shipping products halfway around the world and then throw a random statement out there stating that Google is dealing with high volume on this device. How do you know this? For all we know, the volume isn't that high.

Either way, from what I remember, Amazon had a firm release date for the Kindle Fire and Apple always does for their products. It actually is just poor business to say "It will release in 2-3 weeks." This will also bite Microsoft in the butt with the Surface as well. No release date and price? Ridiculous.

bundled in headphones are never worth it and are usually always crappy. Go buy yourself some nice in ear headphones like shures.
