US release date could be July 12th!

I'm very disappointed that they decided not to include headphones AFTER I found out that there would be headphones.

I would have rather not known about it in the first place. Even though its not going to be a high quality set, it still feels like you are getting more bang for your buck.

You're better off just investing in a decent set of headphones. I've never found any headphones that have been included with electronics to be worth anything. It's just something extra for me to throw away.

I know i cant really cancel, but i want to try. Also just make sure that if i refuse i will not be charged shipping or anything. I figure it will be easy to cancel the Sams ordere at worst case scenario

I called and they couldn't cancel but told me to return the item or refuse. You won't be charged shipping or anything on the return.

You tell me that I have no idea what is involved in shipping products halfway around the world and then throw a random statement out there stating that Google is dealing with high volume on this device. How do you know this? For all we know, the volume isn't that high.

Either way, from what I remember, Amazon had a firm release date for the Kindle Fire and Apple always does for their products. It actually is just poor business to say "It will release in 2-3 weeks." This will also bite Microsoft in the butt with the Surface as well. No release date and price? Ridiculous.

The Surface is not up for presale. I'm sure they will announce a date and price before that time. Haha.

Really, Google shouldn't have opened preorders until they knew exactly when they would be shipping it. You know, just like every other company does.

Microsoft Surface isn't due out until "fall"

Apple has Mountain Lion as coming "in July"

The original iPhone was shown off in January and would be released "this summer"

It's fine to be vague when talking about seasons changing or something developer dependent like an operating system.

However, a device within 4 weeks of shipping (and allowing pre-orders) needs a firm date. Come on TheGoog

I also feel like my credit card is being held hostage by this wait. Either release those funds or charge me and ship it.

This is my first tablet and I really didn't/don't expect the headphones to come with it. I like shopping for them on eBay anyway.

I work in global shipping. There is so much that can go wrong. Frankly I dont care what or how Apple or Amazon does it. The tablet will show up as soon as Google can get them out. No sooner. Some of you people act as though your kidney transplant is in that box. Google has no cash flow from the sale of the Nexus 7 until they ship it. They have much more of a vested interest in shipping this product and doing it correctly that we do collectively.

It's funny, this exact thing happened when we were all waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. It drove me crazy. I'm trying to be more patient this time.

However, I preordered mine from my local gamestop just YESTERDAY and on my receipt it says SD 7/12. Going by what everyone is saying here about waves, I'm in the first wave. But my store already has two preorders and both of those are in already.

When I spoke to them in store they said I will be getting it on release day. When I called them a few hours later and I pressed the cashier about these so called waves, she said she was unaware of that and apologized to me. She asked her manager and they told me I'm in the second wave which is August 14th.

LOL, this is hilarious. I'm just going to hold on to my preorder and I'll get it when I get it.

Perhaps you should not have ordered it on presale without a hard date. Dont blame Google, blame yourself.

Don't worry guys, called my local gamestop at the mall. And was told by a girl with a cute voice, that the date has been pushed back.

Till September 30th.

If you really want to show Google its wrong to not prioritize Google Play pre-orders than just walk into a store when they become available and buy them there and refuse the pre-order when it ships. If they get a flood of returns they'll learn for next time.... This is what I'll do if I find one in a store before mine ships from Google... ridiculous

I feel pre-orders are strong but not enough to cause massive backorders in the full retail chain.....

Take this how you want.

I just posted that i was purchasing from Sams eventhough i had google play preorders in.

I called to cancel my Google preorders(took just under 30 minutes to get through)
-I asked to cancel because sams was much cheaper(cheaper tax, price, and no shipping)
He said sure i can cancel them
-thats interesting i have been hearing that they cant be canceled
He responds due to recent events they are able to be canceled, are you sure you want to do this
Now it is being sent onto the department to cancel my orders

again no idea what any of that means, but if nothing else it looks like you can cancel your orders if you want

Same exact thing happened when I called. No word on the cancellation yet tho.

ASUS has messed up the Transformer TF101 and 201 tablet launches, so I wouldn't be terribly shocked if something does delay this. Also isn't the TF701 launching Monday? Wonder if that's affecting things.

Hope you guys done get you shippment emails before you get your cancellation emails. I guess if you are saving money, that is good. Not sure its worth my time to go over to Sams. Id rather the UPS lady bring it to me at this point, no matter when that might be.

It is on their website so it is shipped to your house, if that helps you. I personally am very excited for this my first tablet, but saving $40 between the two of them is worth potentially waiting another week.
