Verizon 4G just kicked in, Tallahassee Fl

The download speed on the speedtest app is ALSO not accurate btw. It reads too low. Speakeasy.net/speedtest will show 24mbit while the speedtest app only showed 8, this was in memphis. In denver the speedtest app only showed 3 and speakeasy.net/speedtest was showing 12.

Very envious of you guys with 4g. I'm in a small town in alabama and I probably won't get 4g until 2012.... Maybe I will move to birmingham, they should have it this year.

It went out again about 10 mins ago and hasn't come back yet... i dunno whats goin on

You live on a fringe area, youre close enough to get a little 4G signal every once in awhile.. I was in the same situation before I returned my bolt

If they just turned it on...they might still be tuning/testing on it.
I've been averaging 10 to 25 down, depending on site and time of day/signal.
Averaging 2 to 5 up, same thing.

I just bought the wired tether app for ten bucks.
On three different computers, one older laptop and two newer desktops I was pulling 10 down consistently and 1 to 1.5 up.

I might root my phone one day for the wireless...but 10 bucks and having to carry a USB cable isn't bad.

It seems like they were testing in around the Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC today. I had 4G for a little while as we were riding across town but on the way back home going the same route I was never able to pick up 4G again. I hope they flip the switch soon but I don't expect it till this summer.

This afternoon/evening on the Thunderbolt...

If anyone remembers the 3G deployment, this is how it worked... the service would come and go throughout the day (which also drained the battery), and would eventually stabilize and remain on shortly before the official announcement.

As for the deployment, I'd like to see Verizon swing by Raleigh and get LTE running here. We're one of the more "high tech" parts of the country, with a lot of potential customers. So if anyone from VZW is silently reading this forum, we're ready for LTE in Raleigh...

I concur. Raleigh needs LTE ASAP. :D

The sales reps at the Montgomery, AL store told me that Montgomery is next on the list. Is that so?

Ok, sorry I didn't mean to change the subject but since I had Be5n's ear I thought I would ask. Back on subject:

I can't wait for Columbia to get 4G but I worry my battery saving tweeks won't work once LTE gets here.

Columbia can wait we need it in the upstate of SC first! :p

Its coming to SC, I can feel it. When that 4G LTE icon lit up I was yelling at my wife "I got 4G, I got 4G!". Now I am more excited than before I knew what it was like to have 4G. I took a screen shot just so no one could say I was crazy.
