Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

The Sprint Nexus S 4G doesn't have any bloat on it. It comes preloaded with some Google apps, that is all.

What Applications/Content Come Preloaded On My Sprint SPH-D720 (Nexus S 4G) Phone?

In fact Sprint has responded to customer feedback and made a recent effort to reduce bloat on ALL of their phones, not just the Nexus. Just look at the difference between last year's EVO 4G and this year's EVO 3D which shipped with much less bloatware. Now if only AT&T and VZW would follow suit...

I wish all carriers would follow Sprint;s lead and make bloatware removable, I shouldn't have to root to remove apps I don't want. Anyways like I said before, even if the Verizon Nexis Prime comes packed with all Verizon's apps the Nexus phones are easily rooted, so removing them shouldn't be that hard. It's the people who don't want to root and void they're warranty that would have a problem. The solution, removable bloatware. I honestly don't see Verizon ever making bloatware removable, but maybe Google could force they're hand with the Nexus Prime.

I agree I mean even if they still stick their bloat on there they will make money just make it able to be uninstalled. I mean most people never touch the bloat so its not like they are making any more money from it just sitting there than being preinstalled.

That is what I've never understood. The carriers make money by putting bloatware on our phones, but they don't make money from out keeping the bloatware since most people never use it, so why not make the bloatware removable? They would still make they're money and we end users would be happier for it, it would be a win/win situation.

I'm pretty sure they would get less money if they made it removable. That's gotta be the only possible reason that they make it unremovable.

some bloatware is both carrier and phone manufacturer. So Google will have to convince Both to not put or have them able to remove them. Some of the bloat is useful like to check your account, TV apps are ok for so boring times at work... But Sprint is one carrier who make it public that they are listening and putting less bloat and also with the storage space being increased i dont think it would that big of a deal anymore. The Photon has like 4gbs for apps alone and 16gbs total space not including youe SD card. I hope they put an sd card slot... if not then atleast 32gbs inside..

Ur right that on average people do listen to others when it comes to phones. If their looking to get a smart phone. I still see a lot of people with flip ups.
most everyone listens to what info others have gleaned. I came here to listen (well read) you guys, to help me decide what phone to get. (I am typing this on an original Sprint Pre, and I'd like to upgrade.)

Oh, and I've aways liked the clam-shell form factor. If I could get a good smartphone in a clamshell, I think I would. A nice spacious keyboard with numbers and some dedicated keys below, and a screen that doesn't need any extra proection above. Yum.

I would pay $0.99 to remove each bloat application!
:D

Since most of the carrier my account apps are in the market, I rather install them from the market not come pre-loaded. I would like for any app.

I wouldn't want that because once you brand it droid it opens up VZ adding all its bloatware to the mix. This is one of those instances I would rather let google float on its own without VZ trying to get into the mix.

This is a joke. A Nexus on Verizon, without the bloat and useless Verizon add ons?

Better go outside and start shooting down one of the porkers with wings

I tend to agree, but not to this extreme. VZW had the DROID, a non locked loader, and vanilla android. It was the closest phone to the nexus as far as a true Google experience. Was it a nexus? No, but it was a refreshingly clean phone. A nexus on Verizon does seem unlikely, but only to a degree. We will have to wait and see. I am not convinced either, but Phil is no "toss crap in the air type."

Agreed. Also, think about this:

What will the iPhone5 be called on AT&T? What will it be called on Verizon?

It will be called ?iPhone5?.

And everyone who hasn?t been living under a rock for the past 4+ years will know exactly what that name means and what that device is.

If Google is smart, and their earnings reports suggest that they are, they will release a phone called ?Nexus? on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and possibly even T-Mobile.

It?s not enough to make a phone with superior hardware. A large part of Apple?s success is marketing and brand recognition. Google needs to embrace the same strategy with the Nexus brand. Market it aggressively, tout its hardware advantages compared to iPhone, highlight its availability on all major carriers, and call it ?Nexus? on all carriers.

They should?t let the individual carriers win here. Apple doesn?t let VZW call the iPhone the ?vPhone? even though I bet Verizon would love to call it that. Google shouldn?t confuse the average consumer with a ?Droid Prime 4GLTE? on VZW, a ?Google Nexus P 4G? on AT&T, and a ?Nexus Prime S 4G? on Sprint or whatever. Call it the ?Nexus?, keep it simple, build a name brand that people will get used to and come to instantly recognize.

Anyway, that?s my opinion (or rant :p).

Regarding the initial thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/droid-bionic/105382-docs-verizon-focus-group-unconfirmed.html

Look at this phone:
AT&T and Motorola Prepping a Sequel to the Atrix with a 720p HD Screen? - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Methinks the DROID HD lines up conspicuously close:
Kevlar Back: Check (although to me it looks more like Carbon Fiber)

720 hd Screen: Check

1/4" thick: Close (Check)

Chrome edging: Hard to tell, but some pics make it look so.

on Verizon: This one is saying AT&T, but with a name like DROID HD, it can't see how it doesn't have SOME verizon connections.

What ya think?

Very well could be! And it won't land on AT&T(mo) as a DROID, HD or otherwise. DROID is a Verizon thing. But the focus group documents also claim a Super AMOLED screen which screams Samsung. Regarding the Prime, I was thinking about this today (yes, the hamster was turning extra fast in his wheel this morning): What if the Prime is the SGSII? This might help explain the delay for the phone in the US, at least on Verizon. How much repackaging would they have to do? Bigger screen, but that's about it. If rumors are true, how would Samsung benefit by having two LTE handsets, one vanilla android, one Verizon'd up, coming out within a couple months of eachother? I'm no marketing major, but why compete with yourself? I don't know. My DInc2 is treating me well, and what I once thought was just my holdout phone while I waited for the Bionic looks like it might just carry me through the holidays so I can see these other phones!

Because the carriers aren't that smart lol. They don't realize that if they did that not as many would root and ultimately save some returns from people bricking their phones(which is hard these days) and then in turn they would make more money from having to issue less replacements. They need to get some dev's into these companies to show them that maybe then they will change. Then again probably not.
