Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

I dislike super thin. My x is perfect for me. The contest of making the thinnest phone is silly to me. Thin phones are hard to hold.

I agree 100%. I will have to see & play around with the VZW Nexus Prime before I make a decision if I want to retire my Droid X. If it's too thin, too plastic, or doesn't have a LED notification light & micro sd slot, I will probably just hold out for the next dual core LTE phone from Motorola or HTC with similar internals.

I really want a stock Android phone but not bad enough to compromise on other features I want just to have one.

Give people the benefit of doubt and realize Samsung phones are light because of thin cheapy plastic and it's easily felt when holding them.

Yes, my "cheapy plastic" Nexus S has ten times the build quality of my EVO. People do confuse light with cheaply made.

I prefer thin and light even if it doesn't feel as "solid" as my HTC.
The HTC I have (Inspire) just feels "heavy" and "noticeable" in my pockets. I'd rather have a lighter phone that just "disappears" in my pocket.

I remember reading somewhere that people routinely think that heavier items feel more "solid" and "quality."

It would explain why some fake video game systems actually have a piece of metal or two taped to the inside bottom of the console: to make it feel more "premium"

I understand that, but logic needs to come in somewhere too. The EVO had a ton of hardware issues. HTC still has a reputation for good build quality somehow. So far, my opinion of Samsung is better than HTC

The nexus one on vzw was coming, people even saw it on Cellbrite machines, but it was killed at the last minute for the very similar Droid Incredible.

Yeah, it happens. Kind of the opposite of what's happening with VZW now, actually: they were testing the SGS II (both 3G and 4G, I've been told) on Verizon, but decided to hold out for the Nexus instead.

Oh I agree with you completely. In some ways I feel like HTC's rested on their laurels somewhat when it comes to build quality: the high point IMO being the HD2 which still looks gorgeous and very simple. Timeless design IMO. The Evo being riddled with issues like screen separation, the Z hinge on the Desire Z and G2 being floppy, and the finish on the TB's kickstand literally peeling away within days of use are just a few examples of recent history HTC build quality lapses. I think people remember the HTC devices of old and see things through slightly rose tinted glasses.

Has Samsung been perfect? Of course not, especially in terms of software quality (why on earth would they choose RFS for Galaxy S 1? Why is the Kies desktop phone management app so buggy? Why have they consistently had GPS issues?-My Omnia i910 is notoriously bad...although one could easily blame vzw for that, kinda how one could in theory blame Google's insistence on changing the location service that assisted the Galaxy S 1's GPS at the very last minute for the "meh" performance of the Galaxy S 1's GPS) but they've made great strides in that department and, at least for me, the hardware itself has always been solid.

Depends in what region you're at. I'm 100% positive the US will have an AMOLED screen.

I love the display size. 4.3 feels to narrow and convoluted to me. 4.5=perfect so long as the head and chin on the device remain small (less than an inch) and the phone is light and thin. Had enough bricks in the last three years to last a lifetime. Come on Prime, give me a reason....

Well, you guys got the Nexus S and Galaxy SII , right? If those devices didn't have the AMOLED screen in your region on those devices, chances are the Prime wont. If they did, the Prime most likely will have the AMOLED display. Hope that helps.

A) Will Samsung Show Off the Prime?
B) Will Google Show Off ICS?
C) Will the Prime be realized on October 11th?

Anyone care to speculate? I read someone's bobo blog this morning and he was speculating that Verizon will release the Prime on October 11th. For those who know more about this process, does that even happen? Or, is the release date usually 2-3 weeks after the "event"?
