Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

I do love my Bionic, it's been a great device for me, but I'm still getting a GN, and expect it to be even better. As to my numbers, I made them up...a total guess. Like this...While there are a few Verizon reps that know as much about Android devices as people in this forum, 90% of them are idiots.

You might like to watch nfl games, and you might be a great candidate to sell a GN to, but I don't think Verizon wants to spend 10 or 20 million dollars on GN commercials during the games for the general audience that watches them. They would rather sell them a Droid. Based on the past weekend's commercials, it seems like I'm correct.

Anyway, I'm happy I could get people to respond with things other than, "They never announced a date. It'll come out when they are ready."

Well, and like I've been saying, nfl mobile doesn't work on the nexus yet, so it wouldn't make any sense to advertise it to an audience that will want to use an app that doesn't work.

That's bizarre reasoning. I'm sure the percentage of avid NFL watchers (I consider myself one, as well as College) that actually use the NFL Mobile app is probably pretty small. I know I don't even have it installed on my phone, let alone use it.

I do agree though, that the Nexus does not have much in the way to differentiate itself (other than Android 4.0 and on screen buttons) versus the Rezound (with Beats) and the Razr (Kevlar backing, super thin, Gorilla Glass Screen). Since it doesn't have a lot of stuff to differentiate, it's hard to advertise that device specifically.

Either way, the typical Football demographic fits the Nexus/Razr/Rezound demographic just fine.

You do realize 20 million people watch Sunday night football, and they don't all use the NFL mobile app? I rarely open the thing.

Ok, take this for what its worth to you. I work for a very large company that does business all over the world. Verizon gets all of our business and we have a corporate sales rep that has been with VZW for many years, and I have had "on the money" advice from him every time I have wanted a particular phone for my upgrade. I asked him if I would see the release of my Galaxy Nexus before Christmas. He said sorry, NO. He inidated that it will release no sooner than the week after Christmas. He indicated that he gets notification about 10-14 days before the release of a phone to get the word out to the corporation to get all phones info backed up and ready for any transition that will occur for the people that will be getting an upgrade. He indicated he has NOT received that Memo yet. He said he felt it wouild be the week after Chrismas because it has been delayed so long. As I said, take it with a grain of salt, but this guy hasn't been wrong with the release of any phone I have wanted. So, I will be waiting as we all are to see if that comes true. :(

This could jive with the Droid 4 coming out on the 22nd and Verizon not wanting to let the GN get in the way of those sales, but I don't believe your friends predictions to be any more true or likely than it releasing tomorrow, or Thur, or Fri. It's pretty clear that Verizon doesn't like having the GN, so I think one day soon it will just be quietly available for purchase.

Reps don't know anything. This has been established many times over in this and other threads.

I would almost bet that we will see this phone before the end of the year. Verizon already said it would be out by the end of the year so if it isn't that means they flat out lied. Not to say they wouldn't lie, but I don't think they want that knock against them on their record. I also remember reading somewhere that they absolutely wanted to have it out by Christmas even if they had to do a software update right away, which it looks like they will anyway.

Anyone who doesn't believe that the phone was all ready to be released on the 9th is kidding themselves.

So this guy who is supposedly always in the money would have gotten "that memo" 10-14 days before December 9th. Obviously he didn't, so why would i hold any stock in him getting it this time, if he even exists at all?

All I know is that my local Radio Shack has one in stock with my name on it. I called and confirmed that I can come by tomorrow morning and pick it up....I hope this does not change

Australia gets the gn tomorrow.

Yeah I know its a gsm model but the point is the rest of the civilized world gets a Nexus before us.

"Aww look at the poor Americans, when are they getting a Nexus? Maybe by summertime"

Too bad the joke's on them because they don't get the crazy fast LTE speeds. I guess the joke's on anyone who doesn't have LTE yet also, so for those of you who don't have LTE, I apologize.

Well its summertime in Australia so maybe that means we will get it soon! Just like "Its 5 o'clock somewhere!"

I was going with something like this as well...

After I got my tablet, I don't use my phone like I used to so I guess I will just wait until this is released and if it waits to long, then I will just get a quad core phone next year when ever they release... either way i'm waiting...

Just something interesting,

I went to the VZW store locator and none of the stores have Thursday listed for store hours, kinda odd do not know if it means anything.

Good find. I checked my store hours just a few hours ago and Thursday was listed. Not now.
So either they are taking the day off or something big is happening.

Well well well, thanks Verizon!!!! Got a call last night at 6PM from Radio Shack. They just received an email to push the date back for the Nexus and did not give a release date. WTF!!! They are still holding the phone for me, but do not know when they can sell it to me...good business strategy
