Verizon is giving me a headache

meh, all manufacturers put out lemons. If someone were to rate Samsung forever on the GNex, well, you would never buy a Samsung again.

Yeah except...

Droid RAZR Maxx - Great phone

Droid RAZR HD Maxx - WiFi kept having issues. Was connected but randomly had to turn WiFi off and back on for data to work again. WiFi analyzers kept saying in had superb signal even when issue happened.

Droid Maxx - Great at launch. Update broke.

I think two Motorola devices in a row with issues is enough for me to walk away. Maybe saying "ever again" is extreme but I won't buy a new Motorola device for a while.

Well between my GNex and then my GNote3 both having signal issues where my Moto X and iPhone 5 don't, I won't buy a new Samsung device for awhile.

Sprint has constant issues. T-Mobile has constant issues. What issue? Poor service in the Chicagoland area. At the very least my issue was phone related and not network.

Where is one supposed to go for no issues?

Have you tried AT&T?

The OP won't leave Verizon because he has unlimited data on Verizon, which is no longer available on ATT.

You can get unlimited data on AT&T through AOL but you would be throttled after 5gb.

Interesting the varied opinion. Some have had great luck with the note 3 signal, others, not so much. My note 3 radio blows my note 2,s3,razr maxx, rezound, and Thunderbolt out of the water thanks to advanced wireless services. In fact, I almost didn't get the Note 2 because of the weak signal on my s3,but the note 2 radio is better than the note 2 for sure.

I think the samsung radios are great in strong signal areas, but not so great in weaker signal areas.

how do you do this?

You assume liability of a line. Usually by buying a line on eBay or Craig's list for upwards of $300. Still not an option though. I've had ATT before and the experience was terrible.

I left ATT when my contract ended because as soon as it ended I could no longer call my now ex girlfriend. Kept getting errors on my phone but could call her from my dads ATT phone or any other line. All other numbers worked. They took a week of trying to get me to upgrade without offering a solution so I walked. Ported my number over and issue disappeared.

My Note 2 and Note 3 radios are just as strong as any Motorola phone I've had. I hear the S3 and S4 are weaker though but no personal experience.

*based off dBm readings.

My sister has ATT and she wanted her now adult daughter to assume liability on her line but ATT said she would lose unlimited data if she did. She called 3 different times and spoke directly with the assumption of liability department and every time she was told starting in October of this year, that will kill your unlimited data.

Based off of dBm and asu, I agree they are the same. Where I noticed a difference is in speedtest results the Moto X has lower pings and higher download/upload speeds as well as fewer dropped calls.

FYI - I live in a weak signal area and that is where I have tested the two against each other. In a strong signal area, I haven't tested the two against each other.

Ah okay. My pings are about the same in my area. My WiFi speeds however read higher with a lower ping on my Note 3 than Droid Maxx.

Ive yet to drop a call on any Motorola or Samsung phone I've used. I've had the signal dropping issues due to the update but that's not really a dropped call due to the cellular radio quality. That's Motorola bad software update.

How's battery life and signal in remote areas?

Not sure. Verizon in Illinois is extremely great (Chicagoland) so I don't really go low. My friend does live on the lower level and the signal is low for him but no lower than any Motorola has been.

I've had my phone for a little while now and everything has been great. I do miss the Droid Maxx battery life but the Note 3 is perfectly acceptable. I do wonder if KitKat solved some issues on the Droid but even if it did I have no regrets.

If you are only getting dropped calls at your house, a network vz network extender would probably work. Its not ideal since they cost $200-300. At my house I get a very weak signal, however other carriers get no signal. Not an ideal solution since you have to pay.

I wasn't willing to do this because I'm not allowing anyone to feed off my network within my immediate area. Besides, it doesn't matter because the issue ended up being phone related. The network was fine but an update to the Droid Maxx forced my phone to drop signal. All such drops disappeared the moment I got a Note 3. Not surprising considering the service at my home is great.

If you call and complain about the signal repeatedly and then tell them you are planning on leaving or want out of your contract due to the signal issues, they give you a network extender for free. I know, that is how I got one.

Yes, but this doesn't really help considering my issue was phone related and not network related. There was no fix though so I had to dump the Maxx.
