No but I should not have to root to get it to work. I want the most recent versions of Android and it's wrong for me to have to keep an old build to stay up to date.

How are you making out with the Note 3?

I want one but am reluctant to get another Samsung because with the GalaxyNex, I would only get one signal bar at home - if I was lucky. with my other phones I would always get 3/4 bars

No dropped calls, Wi-Fi is faster than the Droid Maxx and my LTE is the same if not better. I wouldn't go back to the Droid even if the issues were solved.

Just curious, why didn't you get the Note 3 in the first place

I wanted the big battery and a smaller phone. But since I had issues I just went back to the Note line since I had minimal issues there.

Sprint has constant issues. T-Mobile has constant issues. What issue? Poor service in the Chicagoland area. At the very least my issue was phone related and not network.

Where is one supposed to go for no issues?

Yeah, you got lucky it was a phone issue, not a network issue. Like you, Verizon provides the best service where I need it. Att and tmobile have issues with no signal or dropped signal at my work where Verizon is solid. But even though Verizon provides the best total network coverage, I am sure there will be areas where another carrier is better, so the best network for me is verizon but may be different for each person

Definitely. It varies but Verizon is #1 in the majority of the USA. Just depends where you're at and how much you're willing to spend.

I didnt take the time to read all the drama... Big question, did you figure out what the issue is?

Yes, the update was causing my phone to lose all cellular signal while connected to WiFi. I tried my main router (Asus) and another (Cisco) and both had the issue. All was fine until the update. I updated the firmware and issue was still present.

Spent the cash and paid retail for a Note 3. Connected to WiFi constantly and no dropped calls 2 weeks later. The Droid Maxx was the reason for the issues and not Verizon.

wow, I read all of this and it's a shame you had to pay full retail to get your problem resolved. had it been me, I would've had to go to another carrier, I don't have that kind of cash. luckily, i have no such issues with my S4, after 6 months. I would hope Verizon would do right by thier loyal customers, but this is just scary. glad everything worked out.

I considered that but:

Sprint is terrible.

T-Mobile works decent but drops calls randomly for my friends.

AT&T would be more expensive and I'd lose unlimited data.

So in all honesty where do I go? I have unlimited data on Verizon with a 17% corporate discount and $20 off my data plan each month. Over two weeks later and not one dropped call. :)

Personally I think that he could have gotten another phone as a warranty replacement with a bit of persistence , not a note 3, but some other device like the s4 or g2

But he just wanted to get it over with, and didn't want to settle for a phone other than the note 3
