Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data (edit :UDP restored)

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

Got a sim 6 months ago with no change to my account, something was different in the way it was processed this time around. Should a sim replacement have required offering or changing a plan?

Sent from my mobile device.

No, a sim replacement doesn't require a change of plan.the csr messed up.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

Bought a new Gnote4 @ Best Buy at full price to keep UDP on the 4th got home called Verizon to activate new Sim and make sure my Asurion insurance would transfer.. everything went good but found out today that my insurance went up $2 was paying $5 and change now paying $7 and change. They said price went up at the start of 2015.

Did you buy the phone with service or without service(i. E. Iconic portal) ? If it is not tied to a line then I believe that you can keep the old rate.

Also besides the increase in premium, the deductible probably also went up.

I posted a thread about the price changes back in November.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

I purchased it without service.. when i got home i wanted to make sure my insurance was going to rollover to my new device and that's when I'm pretty sure the customer service rep. removed the insurance then readded it there for increasing the price. If there is anything you think I can do to get them to revert the price I'm all ears.

You are probably out of luck. In the future the insurance covers whatever device is active on the account. No need to call. I actually went with a third party insurance carrier. It is much cheaper. Hopefully I won't have to find out how hard it is to make a claim.

I would still call back and see if they can fix it.

Calling in was probably your issue. I am getting an s6 edge soon, will see if they change my insurance too. Doing it online, you can see all the changes before they are enacted.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

OP here:
Now 4 days in and my "IPR" is still pending. No return of my unlimited data plan yet.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

I am sure it will be resolved today or tmr. Sometimes it takes them awhile to do it.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

GOOD NEWS! As of this afternoon, unlimited data appears to be BACK! Hopefully all discounts retained and I go on a happy camper (customer)! Thanks to all for giving me hope. :)

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

So I called Verizon and asked if I returned my new device would I be able to be put back on my old insurance rate.. they said it would be a 50/50% chance they would have to submit a form. I'm going to return the device and once I get my old rate back (fingers crossed) I'll redo everything online instead of calling them, then maybe I'll be able to have a new device and my original insurance rate. I'll post my results.

Just remember you will probably have to pay the restocking fee.

I wouldn't risk it. I bought a new device off contract today and when I made the changes online my price changed. It went up one dollar. If you end up paying a restocking fee you're screwing yourself out of money.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

Luckily Bestbuy didn't charge me a restocking fee.. Verizon representative has submitted an inactive pricing form I should have a response in 5-10 days.

I recall Verizon raising my insurance even though I didn't change devices a while back. It was known that it would happen so I'm not sure how you kept the cheap offer for so long.

One thing I do know is that a device purchased after November 20th (or so) has a $150 deductible. Otherwise, for those who activated insurance on a device before then, it was $99.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

Cancel the insurance and put the money into savings each month. If you break your phone use that money. If you don't break your phone you didn't throw away money on premiums.

I considered this since I don't really break phones. I've only used insurance twice in my life.

1. Failed wet install of an Invisible Shield where water got under the glass.

2. Spilled Pepsi on my Turbo speaker. It was a 1 liter bottle from the pizza place and I was chugging it. I didn't put the cap on and smacked it over when reaching for it. Never again.

So I may cancel insurance. Especially with the Display replacement guarantee.

Re: Verizon just TOOK AWAY my unlimited data

I agree i do not do it personelly but i take care of things.

I canceled my Total Equipment Coverage (TEC) so I'm going to save $9 per month. I don't buy extended warranties and insurance on any other electronics minus game consoles since they're a high risk to fail within 3 years.
