Yea the reason is CS reps cannot swap 3G devices to 4G devices using their system. It can only be done at the "point of sale" which is the retails stores.

Yeah that seemed to be the issue he was having. He seemed rather pissed off about it. Get the feeling these guys don't' love their jobs.
I just called customer service and told them I have been having missed calls when the phone is sitting right there. There was no offer of a change or upgrade. Told me a software update was coming in "july" ... I said it's already the middle of July when in July? they had no idea.
Told me to do the 228 option 2 deal and that an update should be coming in july.

they chnaged there policy today that if its still under warranty u can get a inc 2 dx2 or charge.. i went with the charge
I wonder if they will continue to dump resources into fixing the lingering Froyo issues, or if they'll just go with Gingerbread as the software update? The lone GB leak shows that it may have been in the works for some time now....I love speculation!
P.S. To corroborate the above post, a VZW rep has laid a slew of posts on the VZW website threads regarding a software update coming within the month. We shall see. I heart wishes it to be GB w/ more stability, but my mind tells me it will be to ONLY fix the missed call bug, and deliver NY Times...OH YEAH@!!

I just called verizon and they offered me Droid X 2. I took that thing in a heartbeat. Lol. I'm just tired of these missed calls. Should be getting it tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up Clak. I called a couple days ago to submit my first complaint and they wouldn't offer me a replacement phone at all. All they had me do was perform a factory reset and told me to call back if I continue to have problems.
How are you guys going about getting the offer for the Incredible 2, X2, or the Charge? I played the nice-guy route this time, was really nice to the reps and just went along with what they said. Maybe I need to be more angry/aggressive?

Told them the truth: missed calls and constant freezing.
Offered me a Charge, X2, or Inc2. I opted for the Inc2 because the X2 is just plain ugly and the charge is a brick with terrible battery life. Plus this counts as a replacement and won't effect my renewal date!!!

Apparently the policy has once again changed and verizon is only offering the Inc 2 or DX2 as a replacement. No more charges as a replacement. Apparently verizon felt too many people were "abusing" the policy just to get a charge even if they weren't having a major missed call problem. There is supposed to be an update coming out sometime in July to address the missed call issue. Funny because I thought that was one of the things ED04 was supposed to fix.
I must have been right under the gun, because I ordered my Charge this morning! It'll be here on Monday.
For those of you who ordered the Charge, did you receive an email receipt? If so, did the order number work for tracking/shipping purposes? I keep getting a "no order found" error....granted it has only been 9 hours since I was at the store.

I got the receipt but I had to call back the next day to ask about the fedex tracking. This was not on the receipt.
The lady I talked to said the ED04 update was supposed to fix this problem as well...
I love the fascinate but I was missing calls all the time. I have been dropping more calls as well. The charge is a bigger phone than what I thought but feels good. I wish they would let me keep the SF. My kids have already asked for it LOL

I called last night and was able to get a charge. Called my brother today, he was having missed calls like crazy, he's getting a charge also. He's going to get my nephew to do the same.
