I think the idea was that it was released today by Verizon, or tweeted. The fact that they would say this today when it is supposed to be released tomorrow. But my guess is that there was a link to this page and it may have been meant to be a link to something else, since this is a statement made a while back.

OMG, Phil you are right, I just tracked that back to Android and Me and I bet that was a canned response to a useless inquiry email. Then they posted it like it was a new PR statement for today.

Idiots. I don't know about Android and Me, but Phandroid should know better, I tend to trust their stuff (too much, obviously).
