That's not what I was saying. I meant that Google is the only entity that pushes these updates to Nexus devices. Of course Verizon is involved, but the actual update is distributed by Google.
You know its only on the battery door... Could you just buy the GSM versions battery door?

I remember waiting for VZW to release an official update from RIM.
There were no manufactures, skins, or anything. (Well actually each carrier had their own theme on it)
But VZW was sooo slow at releasing updates because they had to go through internal testing.
I know Android is different, and so is a Nexus, but just saying. Lol
I really think Google will push the updates out, and we shouldn't need to worry.
Hopefully it releases soon so all the speculation can stop, and we can start talking about cool things we can do with our phones.

That's actually never been true. The whole point of Nexus devices were that they were stock android, with updates coming directly from Google. Prior to Sprint's version of the Nexus S, there has never been a Nexus device that was sold directly by a carrier, in their stores and on their websites.
Exactly, why believe HTC now when they took almost 10 months to release gingerbread?

i don't mind a few carrier-preinstalled apps. however -
1. let me delete them.
2. let me delete them without consequence to the OS, updates, or force a reinstall on me.
3. keep these apps as stand-alone and optional and separate from the OS. simply make them available in the Market for those that went them. don't bake them into the ROM. they should be regular Market apps like every other app.
4. don't hold up OS updates because of them - not even by a day.

I agree with you but Im trying to figure out why? When iOS releases an update it's on their schedule. Sure I bet apple sends the carrier the update before they release so they can update their horrible apps but everyone on every carrier gets it the day Apple presses that button.
Why should the Nexus and google be any different?

I don't know what to believe anymore. I think vzw is just blowing smoke and are not really happy about releasing it at all. Why would they be? Unlocked phone on their network, none of their usual bloat. I'm sure they think they don't need the Nexus with all the phones they have already. I also think that the razr and rezound play a HUGE part in the decision not to release.

Yeah I think they want to wait and push those 2 more. What i dont understand is why not put the nexus for web only until after black friday and then have a good deal on the razr and rezound to sell more during black friday, and with the nexus being online only the only people would know about it would be people on sites like these who wouldn't get a razr or rezound anyway.
Yeah, I don't think Verizon negotiated the exclusive for this phone because they wanted it...they just didn't want another carrier to get that exclusive.
I actually doubt that the carriers are treated any differently than a normal dev, in most cases, which means they only get some beta releases.
Why, though? Honestly, I think because it's Apple. And every carrier needs the iPhone. So they agree to those terms and conditions.
It's the isheep mentality that does that, they might release on time but give me a build that isn't full of bugs

Verizon doesn't need the iphone. I mean they held off for 4 years and still stayed the #1 largest provider. The phone is only as good as the network and I guarantee verizon would be doing just fine if they did not get an iphone.
