Verizon Wireless scroll? Lockscreen...

I think I've probably noticed this before so it's not new, but suddenly it bugged me. On my lockscreen in the upper left corner "Verizon Wireless" scrolls, as if in the notification bar, on a continuous loop side to side. I have an unlocked model but I do obviously have service with Big Red. I just find it odd that it says this, I'll attach a screenshot.

So do AT&T phones say AT&T Wireless or Sprint phones say Sprint Wireless? Is it an unlocked thing since our phones aren't "branded" and this is their way of branding us? Or is this a purely Verizon thing?

I'm on VZW and it doesn't do that--just shows the time on the left side in teeny font, and the other status stuff on the right. It will do that for a few seconds after a restart, but then it's back to normal.

Mine does it as well only on the lock screen, once unlocked shows the time on the upper left. This is normal. Reason why it scrolls is most likely because the word lenght exceeds the character room available. Wouldn't have a problem say with AT&T and SPRINT because the are only minumum characters.

I didn't really care about the scroll, I figured the character length, more the fact that it says Verizon there at all. Like I said I'd probably noticed it before and just whatever'd it and went on but it jumped out at me the other day and made me wonder. Is your phone unlocked or branded?

Oh and thank you both for replying. 100 and some views and not a single, yup I got it or nope not on my Sprint. SMH. LOL

Well I'm just now seeing this and we just switch to Verizon with are unlocked S10 pluses and I noticed it too.

Unlocked s10+ on T-Mobile.

On the lockscreen when WiFi is on, I have a scrolling message the states, 'T-Mobile Wi-Fi Calling'.
On the lockscreen when WiFi is off, no scroll at all, just says 'T-Mobile'.

Just thought I might chime in here...

I have been a Sprint customer for years, and all of my Smartphoneshave had the Sprint in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

IMHO I think that it is less about Branding and more about letting the user know what Carrier or Wireless Service their smartphone is connected to at that moment.

The reason I say that is because when my smartphone that is a CDMA Sprint device, is connected to a Verizon tower , it displays Roam in the upper left hand corner and when my smartphone is connected to WiFi, it says WiFi in the upper left hand corner.

So since your Unlocked smartphone has a Verizon SIM card, when you are connected to a Verizon tower it will display Verizon Wireless and when it is connected to a Sprint tower or US Cellular tower, it should display Roam or Roaming.

Well it stopped scrolling and now it just says Verizon... I hate both. I'd probably like it if I could change it to my Name or something. I remember on an old monochrome, pull out antenna phone, this being an option. Those were exciting days. Pressing the power button just to see the time and having your name pop-up in the middle of the screen. Yep well no scroll these days just Verizon.

I really never paid attention to it but I had to check. I'm on a Verizon S10+ and it shows Verizon in the top left on the lock screen with WiFi or 4G. I got my phone last October if I remember right. It may have shown Verizon Wireless scrolling at that time, I kind of remember that. Not sure when the change was implemented.
