Virgin Mobile network speeds are TERRIBLE!

As an Optimus V user since launch day, probably about 1.5 years ago, my network speeds have gradually decreased to the point of near-uselesness. At my workplace where I used to get 500-800 kbps, I now get 100 kbps tops (with 4/5 bars of reception!). And at my home, with excellent dbm of reception, I get maybe 300-400 kbps. According to sprints website, the towers near here have had recent upgrades too. This is frustrating, as with the lower data speeds I now get more frequent dropped calls and text messages that never arrive to the adressees. What I chalk this up to must be sprints over-selling of network space to MVNO's, theres so many I dont even know where to begin. I think I'll be switching to tmobile here soon, as theres no end in sight for this ty service.

T-Mobile 3g (on a mytouch 3g) averages around 5mbps (no idea how.. just what I got from speedtest while tethering.). Vm averaged 600kbps.

ever since i bought the optimus elite my speeds have been pure . just to be honest and blunt. the 3g icon on the device is inaccurate bull as the connection will be dead as hell and yet it always shows a 3g connection. i have to constantly reload pages just to get request sent for page,download,whatever..constant download failures. with no answer as to why this phone, their network or both has become so damn pituful. im already actively looking at other options to virgin mobile.

I'm also looking into other options. My speeds have become virtually nonexistent, unless I'm surfing or downloading in the middle of the night. During the day, surfing the Internet is extremely painfull, with even these forums timing out through the AC app or tapatalk. Let alone trying to view them through a browser. I've tried and tweak everything on my side to try and increase speeds with no luck, and they barely even admit there is a problem. Thats ridiculous.

same issues here. i called and explained as best as these s can understand what was occuring. either these clowns switch me to another phone model entirely or im demanding a full refund on my account for the cost of this piece of ****. under warranty they have to refund my purchase balance because this junk pile is defective or at the very least they cant live up to their terms of service agreement for the service they claim to offer. ill see to it i either get another device,a full refund to my debit account or ill file complaint after complaint with the fcc. my money comes to hard for these clowns to be selling me defective phones and or service with no real honorable recourse when it just doesnt work.

Go to network.sprint.com and see if your in luck of getting any tower upgrades... i have gotten one of the towers by my house updated so its not so backed up so speeds are always the same and dont slow down during the day.

I get horrible service in my town. The tower is like 20-30 minutes away. I get 3G and 1 bar. But it's just sooooo slow. I want to switch, but since the service I want is 70 and virgin is only 35, my dad wont do that. xD

Here in Western PA I generally get about 1.5mbps download 1.4mbps upload with my 3G (For 3G that is blazing).

Although I live in a rural area and I have a tower right beside my house, so I get all the bandwidth and I don't even have to share. ;)

Not to mention there is nobody here that uses Sprint, it is all AT&T or Verizon.

I highly doubt anyone will win any argument as far as terms of service is concerned lol. Try and read it i dare you! Speeds are definitely faster at night here in central Minnesota as well.

You get what you pay for, you want a 30 Bill, you will get 30 service.

As much as I hate Verizon, or locked in cell service, generally I believe the only thing keeping prepaid services around are customers who burn contract holders and cannot get quality service without paying crazy upfront costs.

I would love to see the market change to favor prepaid, but in the states here it will never work nor happen.

Some also like the promise of unlimited data (and yes, I consider throttled after a certain point as unlimited still...).

That being said, if you really hate Virgin so much, you can wait for Sprint to complete the Network Vision upgrades and see if you get better service, or move to a post-paid carrier. (Unless T-Mobile's prepaid covers you well.) AT&T's new data plans don't seem too bad, I can deal with $80 a month for 1GB of data, especially since after actually tracking my usage by the number, I don't use much mobile data.

My home internet bill is $25 a month, I don't think $80 for 1GB of month is a very good deal.

Okay, yes, it's a lot of money for 1GB, but I look at my usage patterns and feel that yeah, if I can pay for unlimited data at that price great, but if I pay for unlimited data and consistently use less than 1GB, it won't make any difference to me to pay for just that 1GB, it's the same amount of data used and the same amount of money out of my pocket either way. Also, that $80 was for your whole monthly bill, not just data. I'd be okay with it considering I have no other options in the area, ideally I'd go TMobile prepaid and buy a device outright, but TMo is awful in my area.

Ok first off to my best understanding if u use boost or virgin Mobile which is a cheaper service with no contract etc isn't the network that u are on actually a 2g or 3g tower that is slower speeds? The service with these services are going to be even worse than sprints service hence why it's cheaper to have.
