Voice dialing may cause me to go back to iPhone

I prefer Bluetooth over wired. Can be 30 ft away when on a call. Background noise reduction is great. I have jawbone icon ans a Samsung. Icon has a voice command Samsung lets you know its connected by voice but uses beeps otherwise...that took time to get used to. But still a good headset. My first preference tho is jawbone. Use it more

I want to like BT but and it's mainly just bad experiences from the past. Plus I had a habit of forgetting to charge it...that's all me I know. One other thing...I am afraid of turning into one of those people who constantly leave it in their ears. I can't stand that.

Thanks for your input.

Hey just turn on your voice activated keyword "mines is android" and it will do pretty much whatever you ask it. Although I do ONLY have just swype with no lock on my phone. I mean you said you have it with you all the time so there is no need to lock it... *shrugs*

Galaxy S3, Alpha as !

mwunder, your questions prompted me to start investigating voice assistants. I'm currently playing with Dragon (Hands-Free Assistant) and I think that might do everything you want without having to learn to use Tasker or NFC tags. In the app, you can activate a car mode with a tap. In this car mode it will listen for you to say 'Hi, Dragon' and launch itself. Then it will listen for voice commands. I used it on my drive home to send 2 texts to my wife today. In the car mode it will also read texts out loud to you. Combined with the always on screen setting, if you have your phone powered in the car, I think you would be all set. Check it out and let me know how well it works for you. I'm enjoying it myself.

Eva assistant is a high priced competitor with a 28 day trial version but I haven't tried that one yet.

@benjdm

I started to investigate those too. Eva "sounds" cool and I am glad they have a trial to see if it really is. Thanks for the heads up on Dragon, didn't come across that one yet and will check it out. Thanks.

I did turn on DayDream so when it is plugged into my car I just have to push the mic button to wake it up and then can do long press for voice prompt. I do miss the speaking back part of Siri so I know what it thinks I said, but maybe finally getting a good car mount for my phone is in order.

One thing that was weird today. In the car I said "Call John Hancock at Work" and up popped John's contact info with various numbers like Work, Work Fax, Other, etc. So I had to manually select it. However, on the way home I called the same person and it automatically called the right number without manual intervention. I wonder if it was a glitch, didn't hear me right, or is an issue with maybe poor data connection at the time. Any insight?

Thanks again.
