VZ is pushing ED04...

I did it last night with no problems. I didn't even lose root. Used the ODIN file to flash the DL09 modem, let phone boot, confirmed DL09 baseband, booted to CWM, flashed the DL09 to ED04 zip file, booted phone, checked baseband - ED04. Phone flies now, got instalock indoors with GPS, and I almost always have at least 3 bars on the cell signal now.

You still have the CWM 3_30 Fix? I was just over at XDA perusing this thread and there was some talk of CWM 3. Just want to make sure I don't booger things up.

It should work with either CWM-recovery-all-3-30-fix or CWM 3.0. I flashed it with times_infinity's CWM 3.0 with no problem:

is this helping people with the 3G and related battery life issues also? I've definitely had the missed calls issue, so this should clean that up. I was hoping not to have to try the ESN swap.

No guarantee it will help with 3G reception. Follow the steps and update your modem to ED04, see if your 3G reception is better. If not, call vzw tech support and have them do an ESN swap. It takes all of 10 minutes.

Yes, all CWM work whether you are voodoo or nonvoodoo

wow, hopefully this will fix my "calls not getting through issue", didn't know this was out there, I think i might have missed it on the site on 6/8 when it came out!

jeez i just downgraded the modem to dl09 to get to ed03 yesterday. Now i have to do it over again in less than 24 hours. Oh well. It doesn't take but a couple minutes.

Updated no problem. The update fixed the ringtone problem where it was using songs from my music files.

Man, I've been outta the loop. Gotta quit workin' so much. Sportin' the ED04 modem now and it was easy, too. Well, the second time it was easy. The first time I forgot to pull the battery when I ODIN'd - DOH! It's been a loooong time. Thank gawd for AC forums and the awesome dudes who document for us all.

Woahhh, voice from the past!!!! How have you been? If there's anything else you need clarified or caught up on, just let me know. You can shoot me a PM if you want. Have you seen that jt1134 is ( ) this close to getting a fully functioning CM7 Gingerbread working for the Fascinate? Only GPS, SMS, and light and proximity sensors are not working. Other than that, calls, data, sms, camera, camcorder all working.

Like Kevin said, you have to be completely stock. When you debloated you may have removed something that needs to be there in order for the system to recognize you need and are available to get the OTA. Your best option is going to be ODIN back to stock DL09 and OTA from there.

So I was finally able to get it to work after I deleted the swype beta and put the original apk and odex files back. I still had the original files but renamed them .olde. I immediately started getting force closes after it rebooted from swype but that's an easy fix.

You still have ComaVolt, the ED04 is just the modem, ComaVolt is the kernel. And I've noticed it seems snappier too.

I also did seem to notice the phone being overall "Snappier" and "responsive" after flashing the ED04 modem...

I have noticed the exact same thing with GPS. Sometimes I get instalock, other times it takes over a minute. Got to be verizon's terrible service and whatever they have done to their network to make way for the iphony. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yep. I missed one yesterday. Dont get many calls on weekend so can't speak about today. The all knowing VZW people are sending me my 3rd CPO replacement in a month. Getting tired of losing screen protectors and having to redownload all my apps....

Going back to ED01 as a write this and hoping for the best.

I think I may be the case that disproves the "completely" part. I was running stock, but I was rooted and I had de-bloated several files with the re-naming them .old method. Last night, I got ED04 pushed to me at about 2 AM. (It woke me up when it rebooted in the dead of night.)

When I turned the phone on this morning, it was on the "upgrade" page. I declined the upgrade, since I figured I'd need to rename files, de-root, etc., but when I looked at the status page this evening, it showed that I'm now on:
Baseband version S;i500.04.V.ED04
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: SCH-I500.ED04

Also, I'm now de-rooted.

I thought it was pretty strange that the upgrade loaded without my permission, but I guess it did. I'd also love to know what I declined this morning, since it appears I got the whole upgrade. I've tried reconnecting to the update server, but it keeps saying "server unavailable."

One other interesting note: I had my wi-fi on when this pushed update came through. Very odd, as I thought it could update only when wi-fi was off.

I have ED04 on my 3 day old samsung fascinate, kernel version 2.6.32.9 firmware 2,2.1 if anyone cares. Thanks to Mr. landshark for everything he has done for me.
