VZW Galaxy Nexus in NYC Samsung Store

- The camera really just is subpar. Its not even that the low light pictures were that bad (better than the tB but not even close to the iPhone and not as good as GII) its that they are all blurry. I took 25 pics, even rested my arms on the table, and they never seemed clear. Its a real downer because a better camera and i am making it my daily phone for sure.

This is very disappointing. Anything is better than my OG Droid (camera really sucks on it), but I was really expecting GSII quality shots. I'll have to see for myself what its like, its not like I'm buying the phone for its camera, but still disappointing.

By the way, great first post :D

I lust for this phone in ways that are unnatural. I just wish Best Buy will hurry up and get it so I can return this Razr.

I'm pretty sure that my wife is tired of hearing about this phone too. Apparently I was talking about it in my sleep last night. I asked her if she would have preferred me to be dreaming about another woman instead she said that at least that would be more normal than dreaming about a phone.

Sent from somewhere using something to send it.

It is disappointing. I was just looking at GSII camera pictures, and those look pretty good. I'm hoping we'll some better quality images once the phone is out in more people's hands.

Im heading back over today. Want to spend some more time with it to determine if i am going to get it. Any requests?

when you take the back cover off, run!

Just Kidding. Are VPN settings available in the wireless networks? It is in Honeycomb.

NVMD, found it on the SDK emulator build... does it really require a pin to be active though? I doesn't on honeycomb, wonder why on ICS.

Could there in anyway we a software fix/upgrade that can improve on the camera or it is all hardware? I am using the Rezound until I get the Nexus and the camera on the Rezound is outstanding.

Phil hates the nexus. He hasn't even reported this on the front page. Not to shabby

We've all seen great pictures taken with this phone. There will always be people who say "this" or "that" on such and such phone sucks. Wait until it's in your hands before you get to worried.

Looks like the forum did auto resize them.
Here are the full resolution images

Ah, thanks man. I got worried for a bit because that was frighteningly close to non-HD screen resolution.

Aren't there camera apps that have improved the hardware camera on phones. If so perhaps the camera issue for some can be solved with a software update, or try one of the camera apps...I think it was HDR Camera or something. Anyway the camera picture quality is not going to stop me from getting this phone plus many of the shots I've see on sites look pretty good to my eyes..at least not over saturated like I have seen on some phones in use in my house.

I plan on stopping by the Samsung Store after work tomorrow. Color me excited :)

I think a lot of the concern isn't over the quality, but the fact that with the instant shutter people are having a difficult time not moving, which causes the camera to take a somewhat blurry shot.

Thats right. I was back for another hour. A few more thoughts.

- Quality is slightly less than gsII and iPhone is a lil better than both. the tb is terrible.
- However, the gn was by far worst of the 4 in image clarity. the zero shutter doesn't let it auto focus for a second like the other 3 phones. tried a few diff techniques. bottom line is if there isn't the ability to slow this down, it will just not take good pics. i had to resort to snapping the shutter 10 times and got 1 clear pic. I'm very very upset about this. I'm hoping there is a good software remedy
- for exchange uses, some welcomed improvements like email searching and email filing into folders
- browser is sooo good
- really loving the minimal but extra heft compared to gsm version. held true samsung reps gsm and the verizon. verizon one was a little heavier which was welcomed. that much more solid but still light.
- this screen is sooo nice. i said it before but its really engrossing
- some other little ics things i noticed are just great polish. less device specific and just a comment on ics
- didn't ask me to set up pin when i turned on and set up vpn for user that asked but maybe someone already set one up

I think I'm going to have to get it and good chance i move away from iPhone.

I actually like the look of the extra heft. Does it feel more secure in your hand?

I really wonder if there are some settings to play with in the camera software to help reduce blur. It would suck if you need a tripod to take a damn picture.

Thanks for your impressions, it is much appreciated. One question though regarding the camera, I'm a little confused when you said it wouldn't focus. Did you try tapping the screen to focus? I was under the impression that if you just started shooting like a madman, the pictures would obviously come out blurry, but if you selected a focal point before shooting, that point would remain in focus while you hammer away on the shutter. Am I wrong in thinking this?

No you are right, in a static scene w no moving people, once you focus it rarely needs a refocus. still subject to you shaking a tad and getting out of focus but these came out fine. sorry i should have made that clear. when you add people to a scene, even if moving slightly, this is where the problem is. even the jets game on the tv in the background, when i took a pic had trouble coming out clearly. static tv but moving game. the other three cams did fine w this test. i did get a real nice pic but i had to try 5 times.

Maybe like a DSLR unless you know how to use it the pictures can look bad? In other words it may just take some time getting use to snapping photos w/ the camera.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. Hoping that the camera software can be tweaked and optimized down the road, as a lot of the problems that people are having with it appear to be issues that could be remedied with an update. I'm totally jealous that I'm not in the NYC area anymore to go and see it for myself. Hopefully we will all have it in our hands come the end of this week.

Thanks again!
