Well if that's the case then Verizon's $50/month unlimited prepaid plan would be the best option for everyone.
If it continued to exist as-is.

For me a smartphone is a hobby.I will leave vzw regardless if its true.If I cant find another plan on another carrier that keeps me at my current price then its hello dumb phone .
That's the other thing I was thinking of. Just cancel the data portion of the plans. Use just the minutes on the phone. When you are at work or home with Wifi or one of the multitude of hot spots around use Wifi and just drop mobile data all together. Personally I use it at work communicate with the other techs with gtalk. We can do that fine with Wifi and same with email.
Except you can't activate a smartphone with out a "data pak".

Nope. This takes effect when you sign a new contract and does not affect you until your current one expires.

They will tell you they are changing the contract. They can't unilaterally change the contract you already have, even if they word it that way. You will have to assent to the changes somehow. (It might be something like, use your phone after this date and you will effectively have assented to the changes). If you want to get out of your existing contract because they have made changes, you can. By changing your contract without your assent, they have breached the contract (they promised to do something, now they are breaking their promise and doing another thing). On the grounds of this breach, you can have recission (get out of your contract obligations - to pay, to pay an etf if you terminate etc).
You will probably have to yell at a customer service manager on the phone for an hour + to get it done tho.![]()
This is the one time Verizon will give a release date in advance and not delay it.
I too will fight and say the contract is broken if they change aspects of it. Then I can upgrade to a new phone at any time.
Unfortunately, I will get the shortest end of the bargain as my grandfathered Alltel plan (I wonder if that means anything) is better than anything Verizon has. I have 10 friends and family, free nights at 7, unlimited texts and data for $89. Fat chance they'll just only limit my data and keep everything the same.
For the love of god people, read the links! You WILL NOT be able to get out of your current contract because this only applies WHEN YOU UPGRADE TO A NEW PHONE AND SIGN A NEW CONTRACT!! They are not changing the terms of ANYTHING!

im curious... everyone is worried about losing their unlimited data and what not...
If im not mistaken... Sprint offers unlimited data, voice, and text far less than what Vzw is offering. I i mean, if vzw takes away my unlimited data, im switching over to Sprint. A few of you mentioned TMobile but no one mentioned Sprint. Is their service really that bad? Or Am i missing something?
