VZW Share Everything Plans

asked my CS rep that exact question seeing as I am in the same boat with 2 smart and 2 basic, one unlimited and one 2/4gb current. Answer I got from this particular
cs was if you buy it off contract you can use the 700 or 1400 plan with data pay as you go or upgrade to share for all for everyone. In other words yes your grandfathered but change anything plan wise and we got you.

If it's a dumbphone, it wouldn't matter. You can still buy on contract and not be forced to change your whole plan. The only thing that IS changing for existing customers is that unlimited data won't carry over if you currently have it and upgrade. You don't necessarily have to switch to a Share Everything if you upgrade but you'll need to replace your unlimited data package with one of the existing individual line tiered data packages. At least for the time being anyways. Who knows what Verizon will decide a year or two down the road.

And I got a different answer in a Verizon store yesterday! We have 1 smartphone w/ unlim and I already preordered the SGS3. We have 4 feature phones. He said we can upgrade the feature phones at any time and get the $30/2GB plan, staying on the family 700 min plan.

However, 1 of my daughters preordered and the other plans to do so today. They have been begging me for smartphones (they're 17 & 19 and could really use them!) and I kept saying I wanted to see the data share plans first. We looked at what's available and they both like the SGS3 the best, so we might as well do it now and avoid any problems.

I have unlimited data and my wife has the 2 GB for $30.

As VZW is saying that people can stay on their current tiered plans, can we just transfer the upgrade subsidies to her line each time, upgrade "her" phone, then do a regular phone swap after the fact to get the new phone back on my line?

If so, I could still get regularly updated phones on my unlimited plan without having to pay full retail.

Thoughts?

That's my understanding. At least until Verizon decides to stop letting people choose one of the current per line tiered data packages.

Yes, this will work now, but after the 28th, you'll have to pay full price for your phones to keep your unlimited or tiered data plan.

i haven't seen Verizon say current tiered data plans will stick around. I have two lines with unlimited and 1 feature phone that I'm considered upgrading now to get on a tiered data plan.

From the FAQ at www.verizonwireless.com/ShareEverything
You're not required to move to Share Everything but if you do, unlimited data will not be retained on your line. As a Verizon Wireless customer you have choices when you upgrade at discounted pricing. You can choose from a standalone data package starting at $30 for 2GB or a Share Everything Plan. If keeping unlimited is important to you, you can choose to upgrade and pay full retail price for the phone.

Sure is crappy that att even though they throttle at 5 gigs on lte they still let the unlimited stay on their customers accounts with subsidized phones.... thanks Verizon..........

You can bet AT&T won't be very far behind Verizon on this one.

Alright, so it took two days to get a response but I got one from VZW's official CS email. Also a VZW official responded to my VZW forum question after 3 days.

Upgrading to the GS3 will be fine. The stores seemed to get official word as well as they were quick to answer the same way when I went to order today.

The one thing I didn't ask in the email, and the store didn't know yet, was how this will affect future upgraders from 3G to LTE devices (I care for my wife and mom) even when they are paying full price. The guy in the store said they probably won't know until closer to the 6/28 deadline.

Something Is Not Right With The Keep Your Unlimited Plan..

I don't know guys... I have a bad feeling about this.. I don't know what Verizon is up to with this "Pre-Order now but if you do a subsidized purchase and activate after the 28th you will be switched to a new plan" ? How the Hell can you activate a phone before you take possession of it.. I know this only applies to a small percentage of folks ordering the S3 that still have unlimited data and are buying the phone on a subsidy payment plan, but still they may get screwed out of their unlimited before this is over. Good Luck I hope you can keep your plans and enjoy the phone to the max.

Re: Something Is Not Right With The Keep Your Unlimited Plan..

Is says right on the receipt with the phone order that I have unlimited data. If they don't honor it I will simply dump them and go elseware.

I did some checking today as we are going to switch over from Sprint, which has been the worst experience of my cell phone life, and since we have a moto xoom on Verizon already figured we would add phones.

As a brand new customer coming in, other then the Xoom plan, for myself and my wife to have a smart phone, it would cost us about $80 more per month if we were to sign up right now, as apposed to waiting for the new Family Share Plans. This is comparing getting unlimited talk and text with at least 2gb of data on each phone.

So in this circumstance, Verizon is making it much more affordable for me to switch over.

I went with Sprint because of their price and unlimited data. Turns out you get what you pay for! Never again!

All indications point to unlimited being retained if you pay full retail or bring your own device regardless of going from 3G to 4G.

Re: Something Is Not Right With The Keep Your Unlimited Plan..

Droid Life says they spoke directly with VWZ's top communications director and were told that S3 pre-orders could keep unlimited:

A supposed Verizon employee here on AC has an alleged screenshot from Verizon's intranet service saying you can keep it:

90% of the readers here who have all asked repeatedly have been told you can keep it if you pre-order the S3, according to this poll:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...on-tell-you-about-keeping-unlimited-data.html

Finally, a quick perusal of Verizon's twitter feeds have shown multiple instances of VZW employees confirming unlimited data with a pre-order of the S3

I just hope and pray there are at least 35 more of these threads created before the S3 release. I don't think the other 10 already on the board are enough.

Re: Something Is Not Right With The Keep Your Unlimited Plan..

Ugh. Dude, just stop. You're waiting for the Note 2 anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Also, why do you take photos of a screen, instead of taking screenshots? Doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Re: Something Is Not Right With The Keep Your Unlimited Plan..

I really don't see Verizon changing the agreed upon terms.

When you pre-order, you're signing up for a new agreement - the terms and options are spelled out for you.

Seriously, are you expecting to hear new plan options when you try to activate your pre-order?!

For those who think you'd lose your unlimited plan, I'm curious as to how you imagine this functioning. When your phone arrives you pop in the SIM and turn it on. I don't see any real mechanism for Verizon to switch your plan at the point of activation. I suppose they could push a prompt that forces you to pick a new plan before the phone will activate. You could then, obviously, discontinue the process and send the phone back. I can't see Verizon doing this. All of the phones returned could then only be sold as refurbs. Seems highly unlikely to me and I can't really picture any other ways of doing this. So, rest well, I would be highly surprised if our unlimited data plans weren't safe (well, at least for the life of this 2 years contract).
