Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

16gb from ebuyer.com screen sometimes unresponsive but fixed by turning screen off and on again, a common issue so not too bothered. No screen lift or dead pixels or any other problems to report, overall I am very happy!

16GB Nexus here. When I got it, I immediately checked the left side. It was up a tad so I snagged my trusty Menda black stick and opened up the back and tightened the screws (then unlocked and rooted it, of course :D). So far it's came up a tad but I really don't even notice unless I push it right in the middle spot on the left. While actually using the tablet I don't even realize it's there. Everything else is great such as the screen (touch sensitivity, pixels, color, etc.) and no other issues. It is NOT technically glass separation on mine either. It is more like it pushes the whole thing above the side bezel. It's as if it is a tad too thick. Everything is good so I'm hanging on to it.

I am on my third.

The first one I bought the day they released from my local Sam's Club. It was perfect except for some mild screen lift about 2/3 of the way up the left side. I followed the directions and snugged up the screws which had no effect. The lift became worse with use/heat. I returned it.

The second one was a Sam's Club pre-order which was also perfect except for some very mild screen lift in the same place as the first one. While not nearly as bad as the first one, it did have some creaking when I pressed in that area. That bothered me so I returned it as well.

I made sure the folks at Sam's knew both of these units were defective so they didn't get put back in any sort of "open box" rotation or anything like that.

I just bought my third one on Friday from my local Office Depot (tax-free weekend). Out of the box, it was absolutely perfect. However, after some use I can now see some ever so slight screen lift at about the half-way point on the left side. It's perhaps 3-4" in length which is more than the first two, but nowhere near as high. I plan to keep this one. I also purchased the 2 year accidental damage plan since I didn't have to pay tax. The lift on this one is just barely enough to catch my nail when I slide it across. Without really good light (and eyesight), it's imperceptible.

I checked for dead pixels and light bleed on all three and had none. The only thing I don't like about this device is the washed out or over-exposed color tint. I'm hoping this can be fixed in a future update. But it isn't a deal-breaker for me.

The percentages being calculated from this thread should not be interpreted in any way as a scientific survey for several reasons (and I'm glad the op acknowledges that).

For starters the kinds of complaints and the number of returns people are doing here are worth several LOLs hahaha.. It reminds me of the dude searching for the perfect dozen of eggs in the movie 'Clerks'!

But for you creaky side crusaders and you leaky display denziens, keep fighting the good fight!

I went through my local Walmart's entire shipment of them. All defective screen lift.

Is there any official word on when we can expect a working version?

Waited forever for a 7" stock Nexus tablet and absolutely disappointed with the horrible build quality.

I've had mine for a few days, perfect.
There might be a slight screen lift, but it's not even pushing 1mm.

Mine came in perfect condition

16gb from Google play store

I've gone through 10 and all have light bleeding. People who say they don't have any lighr bleeding on their nexus 7 don't know what light bleeding is.

Received mine after ordering it from Play. It seemed perfect until I tried plugging in ear phones. The plug didn't sit well in the audio jack, no sound in the ear phones, and the speaker did not shut off. Tried several different plugs and pushed in as hard as I dare...no luck. Had to send it back for a replacement. The replacement works fine, especially the audio jack.

Sadly I just got mine from Walmart (only local store that had them) and it has serious screen ripple issues on the left side. I'm going to do a video later but even mild, and I mean barely touching, the left side causes everything to get "wavy" :-!

Noticing a lot of people here are saying "mine is perfect, no problems" followed by "there might be a screen lift". If there's a screen lift it's not perfect. I'm now on my 10th Nexus 7 which will be returned later today. Just killed the stores entire new shipment with returns. Dept. manager considering not ordering any more period until Google fixes this.

I think I'm actually done after returning this one. Why are they even shipping out faulty garbage this late after realizing the vast majority are defective.

Perfect condition but is anyone noticing a occasional lag when opening and closing app drawer while multitasking?

Mine is perfect - no screen lift - absolutely immaculate. 16g

Mine is perfect as well, no screen lift, absolutely in great condition, perfect condition. Got mine on Friday from gamestop it was pre-ordered. I was so scared to open the box after hearing all the horror stories, so before I paid for the tablet I asked the rep to please open up box in front of me to check to see if it was defective or not and thank goodness it was in perfect condition. I was so happy, but I did take out a 1 year warranty just in case something happens and they said they don't repair these tablets they just give you a new one with there warranty which is good to know.:)
