Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

First one the left side of the display was buggered, to use the technical term. Second is perfect. Good thing Sams has a good return policy.

Got mine in the mail today. Noticed right away that the screen wasn't as responsive as it was supposed to be (like my Galaxy Nexus). I don't have the glass separation (that I can see) but presses and long presses don't work half the time, especially on the bottom of the screen. When I was finally able to open Google maps zooming in and out worked about half of the time and sometimes were opposite. Called Google and they said it was a common issue and they would send a replacement. Unfortunately I'm in Belgium and had it shipped here by my mom so I have to ship it back to her for the RMA, and she has to ship me the replacement. So this $270 (with shipping and tax) tablet is going to cost me about $330. At least.

I received mine yesterday, 26th from Play store. I ordered the 16gb one, works fine so far. What are the common problems btw?

Most common problem seems to be that the glass is not glued firmly into the bezel/metal edge, particularly on the left side as you hold it in landscape. That's the "problem" with mine. If I pinch the left edge gently and release, I can hear and feel the glue "click" ever so slightly as it lets go again. The glue was obviously not allowed to set properly before the unit was boxed, and has set with the glass not properly affixed. For some people, this problem gets worse, and for some it seems to fix itself. I've had mine for less than a day and I have 13 days to exchange it. I will decide what to do next week depending on whether it gets worse or not.

Second problem is a loss of screen responsiveness, especially after running an intense game or app. No problems on mine with that, but I don't game on it.

Third problem seems to be a sudden "washing" or "whiteout" of colors, sometimes after a few days of use. Mine seems fine, but then again I've only had it for one day.

There are also sporadic reports of USB charging issues, probably a bad batch of cheap USB ports out there or something.

First and fourth problems appear to be manufacturing defects. Second and third may be fixable with a software update. But if you run into the problem, exchange it for now - you can only exchange them at most places for 2 weeks or so, so get a perfect one or get stuck with a possible dud.

I haven't seen anything else out there that appears common. Personally, I'm happy enough having one with a practically unnoticeable separation on the left side. It's not absolutely and utterly perfect, but for $250 for a 16GB fondleslab, it's not too bad. If the separation gets worse, I'll wait until Staples has stock and exchange it.

3 units, 3 defects. 2 out of 3 had glass separation, 2 out of 3 had dead pixels, and one had both.

Mine also has a slight glass seperation on the left side right in the middle. I didn't even notice it until I started looking for it to see if I had it. Going to wait and see if it gets worse.

I got the 8GB Nexus 7 from the Play Store. I'm having issues with the display being duller than it is supposed to, and losing responsiveness.

I have two 16GB Nexus 7s. Both have washed out looking screens, over saturated whites, and screen looks over exposed after playing videos.

I emailed Google Play asking if they think third replacement will resolve this problem or if it requires a software update. Waiting.

Almost perfect. Slight screen separation which I wouldn't have noticed were it not for this forum. Decided to live with it.

Got mine this afternoon at Staples(16gb)-so far, ok. Have noticed it gets quite hot along the left edge though.

The left side of the glass is raised.
On the right side a piece of the glass is chipped off.
Sometimes the is unresponsive to touch and needs to be restarted.

I just requested a replacement within the 15 day window.

Ok, I had lifting along the left side. However, it was VERY minor. I did the clamp thing using a sock to keep the clamp from damaging the screen. I left it in my car for 3 hours while I was at work. Mind you temperatures reached 100 today where I live. Suffice to say it's been about 9 hours and the screen has not raised back up.

I will keep you all posted.

16GB, raised left screen, random flickering (can't totally reproduce), creaks a little top left area

clamp method held for about a day. But I only had it clamped for about 6hrs, the first of which transformers was playing.

it does not raise as high as it did before (3-5 sheets of paper or so), but is up by a little at times. Still creaks

Got my 16GB in the mail 3 days ago. "Perfect" condition until the second day of ownership the speakers decided to start crackling. RMA has been completed and will be receiving a second one. So freakin' bummed out.
