Was your Nexus 7 defective or in Perfect condition?

I just picked up mine from gamestop, it's charging now, I don't see any defective screen as of yet, and haven't powered it up yet. Will let you know how I like it once fully charged.

Does the picture from the arstechnica review show the same screen lift problem that so many other people are seeing? I think it shows here:

Divine intervention: Google?s Nexus 7 is a fantastic $200 tablet | Ars Technica

I'm somewhat surprised reviews did not mention it. I would not be surprised if a very large number of people who got a "perfect" unit actually have at least some screen lift on that side.

what people consider a perfect unit are the ones which have half a mil raised screen.
if you press on it it goes down and then pops back up again.
that is not perfect.
these units also display a little gap between the silver trim and the screen itself on that same side

I have personally seen 4 units at four different retailers and all of them had the raised glass issue and they were exactly as i said above.
I dont not think that there is a perfect N7 out there since apart from the raised screen they also suffer from screen calibration.

If you take 10 units and put them side by side you will notice that they are all different in the way they display colour temperature.
I have returned mine a few days ago due to screen issues and i wont purchase another one at least for a while.

I have no ideea how Google/Assus have managed to mess up so badly.

Mine's pretty much perfect and so is my wife's. No movement along the edge when you press down on it. Doesn't go down therefore doesn't pop back up. So using your criteria...mine's perfect right now.

Ugh received my third replacement today no dead pixels but it has bad ghosting sigh :(
Edit: Okay after a reboot I havw yet to see anymore ghosting. Everything else is perfect.

Sadly, I returned my 16GB to Staples today and got an 8GB replacement (no 16GB in stock anywhere in my area). :'( Not gonna open it, cause I ordered a 16GB from Google Play Store. I'll see if that one is a good one, then return the 8GB. If the 16GB is bad again, I'm just gonna keep the 8GB, assuming it's ok.

I was going to say mine was perfect....got it yesterday from Walmart (16g)....but after reading this entire thread mine may have the slightest of lifting n the left side...but not entirely sure....I may just be paranoid now after reading everyone's posts

My first one had the left side glass issue along with two other problems. My replacement has it slightly, but I'm not going to deal with getting another replacement.

16gb
Purchased Tuesday evening.
No issues yet.

Only complaint is that the USB charge cable is way short.

#1 bad screen flickering
#2 bad ghosting
#3 around 10ish dead pixels

I think I'm just going to keep my 3rd one. Knowing my luck, the next one will be even worse. :-)

Perfect 16gb but have the washed out screen u til I mess with the brightness after watching some videos.

My nexus 7 is perfect so far, like you said the charging cord is too short, but I purchased an extended USB cable and it works great. Got mine yesterday and its great, ordered from GameStop. I just ordered a purple leather case off Amazon too match my purple stylus.:)

My 8GB warranty replacement seems to be in great condition. I could tell they cut the original tape to verify before taping it back up and sending it out too.
