I'm interested in this too. Especially how it does against S5, M8 battery life wise. Also some G2 users had GPS issues.
Extended thoughts on battery in our G3 review that just went up today! LG G3 Review | Android Central

Daylight performance seems fine to me.
Can you see the screen with polarized sunglasses on? What angle/orientation does it black out? Thanks!
I came here today to see if this exact issue was addressed. It will not work in my car holder if unreadable in portrait mode. Can you see the screen with polarized sunglasses on? What angle/orientation does it black out? Thanks!

Have no issues with g2 screen and my Oakley polarized glasses

Yes its still there on the g3Is the red underlining of spelling errors still there? Samsung had to remove it from their phones due to Apple lawsuit. It is a function I really need.

I'm very interested in this question too. I thought all phone LCD's were polarised for portrait mode based on my experience, until I read the M8 was polarised for landscape. May seem trivial, but I use my phone tons in daylight, and it may come to little things like this that sway me between something like this and the M8.
Appreciate the response, but you're a little late for me. I went with the M8, and while it's polarized in landscape, it's not the same width polarization as glasses, so you can mostly see it ok in portrait with minimum distortion. I know you were comparing the original One, but the reports I've read say the M8 is better thanthe G3 for clarity and sunlight viewing. What steered me away is the QHD. The rest of the hardware is about the same as the M8, so I was worried that wouldn't be enough to back up the screen demands for gaming. Again, the reports confirmed my suspicion.Well, just received my G3 today and I'm in the process of buying new shades since someone stole my old ones, but I still have the clip-on Polaroid lenses lying around from before I got my laser eye corrective surgery, so I tried those while looking at the G3 just to be sure (read it works fine with polarized lenses, but you can never be too sure, right?).
Well, I can confirm it looks just fine, both in horizontal and landscape though it's night now, so haven't done a full noon bright sunlight test, but the screen is ever so slightly polarized making landscape a little bit darker, but I kept rotating my phone back and forth for minutes to see if I was imagining it or if it was real, so it's not a big difference (I use landscape mode for Navigation myself as of late, but either would probably due, really). Seems this aspect should play no part in your decision between the M8 and G3 then, since they are similar in this respect, at least to orientation of polarization.
I have held the HTC One for a while, which is pretty much identical on the outside to the M8 and my own G3 and the G3 is feather light, better screen & camera, replaceable battery (HTC One has the lowest repair rating by iFixit.com of any phone ever, doubt the M8 is any different) and I'm enjoying my 128GB microSD card, the hand-fitting curvature and especially the knock-on/off feature. M8 ain't premium with a case on anyway and if weight makes for a premium feel, then I'll prefer a phone that I can strap on my arm while running and that won't pull down my loose Bermuda shorts![]()
