ok here is the point the phone will be out by mid march and when it does this will be the best android out (nexus s who cares) but only untill dual cores come out . in other words this will be the best 1gh phone out untill dual cores come
Verizon a copycat for the kickstand? That's HTC, my friend, the same company that manufactured the Evo.
I'm rather disappointed that it looks like such a late release. It looks like this is a result of Verizon being slow to get the ball rolling on LTE phones (pricing, etc), and having the intended flagship phone be nearly obsolete when it launches. Although I'm still not quite gonna rule out the "big release next week" thing that some have been talking about.

I personally like the spects but that's just me and that's because I still have the Droid 1 and this phone is fast enough for me so the TB will be great and I played with my friends evo and I really liked HTC sense
I think the problem with the TB isn't the phone, its the expectations that HTC set up for it. This in no way deserved the type of hype that HTC gave it. Yeah, its a great phone, but it is not the type of device that HTC was billing it as. (the Bionic should have garnered that announcement, though I think the Atrix is the true revolutionary phone of CES)
All that being said, I think the ThunderBolt is a great phone. Updated processor and screen, 768 mb of RAM, 8 gigs of built in storage, and a 32 GB card standard. The way I'm looking at it is this; This is Verizon's Evo. Does it move the needle forward all that much? No. But its a damn good phone regardless.

Hey guys, HTC's official site is up for this phone with some additional specifics on the specs (amount of onboard memory, RAM, bluetooth version, exact processor, FM radio, etc..)

And they show it to be exactly what it is: An LTE Evo with updated specs, which is fine. I'm looking lustfully at the 40 gigs of onboard storage that the TB is going to have...
Wow finally Verizon has stepped the game up that **** looks hot a few feature of the evo (kickstand) are a copy cat but hey its a plus but I'm good with my evo would be a cool dev phone to play with it reminds me of my phone tiny bit of what the evo should have but verizon got the facsinate Sprint got evo then came sprint with there epic 4 and the Verizon was missing there evo so now they'll have this a slightly updated version of are old evo which I will say still is a beast but soon we will have the same software with hdmi and 4g and all this will have once the software comes I'm happy with my choice 2 weeks ago and I'm not looking backof course this is my opinion some will say different

By this line of reasoning, I could say the EVO was a "copycat" of the HD2.
To all the people surprised/disappointed or whatever at the specs of the the TB, uh...was it really a mystery that all it was going to be was a CDMA/LTE version of the HTC Desire HD??? Why is everyone acting like this was some huge mystery????? I'm genuinely confused at that.

This will be a good phone, but if they release it too late it may not be well received. If this would have came out lets say 5 months ago it would have been a monster.
Yeah, I'm not sure why people thought it would be a dual-core phone either. HTC has NO dual-core hardware out, and won't for a while, and they're certainly not the type of company to introduce a model like the TB that would utilize completely new hardware.

I'm glad I didn't try to deal with BB and not get a Droid until the TB. I'm glad I went to the DX. Specs on it are alright, just not as good as I thought. HDMI out is useless but nice to have since I do travel and it would be useful after thinking about it and thinking it was useless.
One good thing I do like is the 32gb micro SD card. But I'm going to assume it's a Class 2 or maybe 4. Amazon has Class 10 for $110.

Actually it was a mystery seeing how this phone was first leaked last summer with no details and just pics.
To expect this to be dual core was a bit of a stretch ok. But you mean to tell me they shelved this phone from its Nov release to January or whenever for LTE? No updated screen, no Gingerbread, no updated RAM, same battery. And they didn't either bother to give it a 1.2 ghz processor.
So yes, for many this was a disappointment. If you knew this all along. Then good for you. Wish you would've shared this information with us 6 months ago so we wouldn't have waited.
For Froyo and Gingerbread, the specs on any of these new phones will make for disgustingly fast devices.
But for Honeycomb, none of them is a clear winner in my book. Bolt may be under-processed. However, if the 800MHz processor in the G2 runs circles around the DInc/Nexus, then maybe this is a new 1GHz Snapdraggon that will be even faster. For Honeycomb, the Bionic is going to be bottlenecked with that memory. Dual core processor with 512Mb of memory isn't gonna be the be all end all of phones.
LG, no thanks. I've had a bad track record with them. Sammy? Yeah right. Gingerbread will be going out OTA to some phones in the near future and all the US Galaxy S class are still on ECLAIR. My co-worker looked so depressed yesterday when I told him I had flashed a Gbread ROM onto to my Droid and he said, "I'm still on 2.1."

According to Qualcomm's site, the Incredible and EVO are 1st Gen Snapdragons. The G2 and Thunderbolt are 2nd Gen. However, there are 3rd gen dual CPUs listed. They have shipped, but I couldn't find anything on where they were headed. Those dual cores are available in 1.2 and 1.5 speeds.
The Bolt will have a second chipset from Qualcomm, the MDM9600, which by the articles I've found is a tri-mode LTE/HSPA/EV-DO Rev. B modem chip. This component is apparently the hold-up as to why the Bolt won't be available till later. I couldn't find any info on this chip on Qualcomm's site.
This past Wednesday is when Qualcomm officially announced the MSM8655 Snapdragon processor and the MDM9600 LTE modem chipset.

Again, not saying the TB is gonna be slow. I know it'll be quite fast out of the box (and quite possibly the fastest out of the box when it's released). The issue is that it won't be in less than a few months time -- and we'll know it. Now, I know with technology that there's always something faster and better down the road. But, in most cases, we don't really know what it is, specifically. In this case, we know exactly what's coming and a very good idea when. We know the TB, it's specs, and a good idea when it will be released. We also know the Bionic, it's specs, and when it will be released (which won't be too far behind the TB). So, when given the choice of both in a very close timeframe (or known timeframe), many lean towards the better spec'd device. I, for one, will also be investigating other issues as well, including battery life, user interface, etc. But, for now, I'm leaning heavily towards the Bionic instead.
Do we know the true speed of the Bionic processor yet? Is it dual-core 1ghz or is it something different. Still I'd rather have more ram and "slower" processor over faster processor and less ram.
You can throw a core2duo into a 5 year old machine to try and make it fast but unless you get that ram upgraded it's pointless.

Maybe. But, I asked a question in the Bionic forum about the type of RAM. Motorola states that the RAM is DDR2 desktop memory. I don't know how this compares to current mobile devices -- is it faster or slower? Why would Motorola point this out? What is the advantage? Not sure what this really means. But, if it's faster, then the fact that it's only 512MB may not be an issue.
