What about the HTC One (M8) DON'T you like?

Re: What about the M8 DON'T you like?

Wasted space as far as screen real estate, not wasted space in general.

Well any phone with on screen buttons will technically have "wasted screen real estate". To me though, it's not wasted if that space has some function

I'm coming from a Moto X and I can't believe how much I miss the notifications being read to me and the ease of the reply while driving. I've tried to use the car app but it doesn't seem to do anything but make the apps bigger and it is not coming on automatically when it pairs to my Bluetooth app like I asked it to.

The phone app seems clunky also and my favs don't seem easy to get to. The speak to call is very poor at voice recognition and I'm from California with no significant accent.

It's not a question of is it empty or not. I think the question is could they have designed it better

Yes!
It's a big turn off.

The M8 runs smooth, no issues there. The camera is good and almost never takes blury photos.
The volume buttons are easy to hit without a case.
The M8 is quite large without a case. Put the defender case on and it gets stupid big.
Having an inch of screen you can't use while typing ect is not a bonus. I think I might fork over the $35 restocking fee to go get the smaller M7 or the GS5.

Screen is too short and the phone is too curved. While it feel great in the hand you can't use it on a flat surface without it rocking back and forth.

I haven't found a way to set individual notification sounds (not ringtone) such as text notifications for contacts. Also my s3 had notification reminder for texts. It would make a sound every 2 minutes. Haven't found anything like it on this phone. Also any way to set different wallpaper for home and lock screen? Thanks.

Why use a defender case. I mean they make every phone big.

Just to let you know the s5 apparently does the same thing because of it's camera bumpout

If I had to say one complaint about the M8 it would be how many times I've accidentally touch the volume control and muting it while holding it ?? Not really a big deal but I wish there was a way to lock the volume controls where this wouldn't happen !? All in all its been nothing but a joy owning the M8 thus far !

So far I love my M8, except for on major PITA is that the WiFi will not stay connected. Even at home, the phone keeps disconnecting from the WiFi.

So far my biggest dislike is how slippery the gun metal version I have is. I feel like I'm going to drop it. I also am not too big on how "big" it feels but the audio quality of the speakers more than make up for it. I'm really enjoying it so far

Right now i am struggling with two things. One being that the phone is very slippery(even with my incipio case). This wouldn't be a problem if the phone wasn't so big, but being that it is i have a hard time getting a good grip even though i have big hands. The good thing about the incipio case is that it makes the volume controls pretty stiff so there is no unintentional use of the controls. Maybe a different case is in order. Perhaps a tacky rubber material. My other concern is the placement of the headset mount(on the bottom of the phone instead of the top). I like to hold the bottom half of the phone with the corner resting in my palm, and the bottom resting on my pinky finger. This presents a major problem with the mount being on the bottom.

I wish i could have tried out the M7 first. It felt better in my hand at the store but i decided to go with the M8 because it was newer.

This is a good phone overall. Excellent performance, I've always been a fan of Sense since the old Windows Mobile days and I love the form factor. However, I'm on the fence with the camera as it is unreliable on outdoor shots and that is pretty much the deal breaker here. Will most likely return this and stick with the Xperia Z2.

Thought i would experiment, so i took the phone out of the case. I must say, it's nowhere near as slippery as it is with the case on. When i first got the phone i put it in its case within like, five minutes. Now having handled it in its naked glory for 30 some minutes i have changed my tune. I have a new found love for this phone.

Try HDR for bright outdoor shots, it works very well. You can also adjust the settings for different situations and save them as a preset, very handy if you ask me

Re: What about the M8 DON'T you like?

A possible explanation for this is that the One has a higher return rate and sales people are aware of this and direct people towards more reliable devices. There were articles awhile back on this topic. From my own experience, two of my three ones have defective camera modules which correlates with the many camera complaint threads.

Earlier post said 1 of 3, now you say 2 of 3? What is the truth?

1.Less no of pixels on rear camera.
2. Small screen (with onscreen
button)
3.too heavy - big device for a 5inch screen.
4.Sense feels boring sometimes (vs touchwiz)
5.Not the best display on the market - Z2 and S5 have better displays
