What if....it's a marketing strategy...Note versus S..and the fold

Good morning all!

N21U 512 unlocked owner, user here, on Verizon.

Reading up on the next note...the 21...speculations on canceling the note 21.

In thinking about it from a pure revenue, marketing strategy...what if the note 21 dies.....it didn't say the note 21 ultra dies....

I'm purely speculating here.....the new S21 Ultra with pen functionality joins the N21U with integral pen and expansion memory slot as a high end power user, business consumer segment......the S21 stays as is and becomes the non power user consumer segment.

Add in the fold into this mix...they segregate higher end specs and a premium price point fir business use from more budget conscious consumers with fewer specs.

It's a large marketing shift for sure....

Break into small groups and discuss... I'm verklempt

I never really saw the need of a non ultra Note device. It would make sense to kill it off and let the S devices take its place, hence the reason it adopted an "S Pen".

But the S21U adopting the Spen fell short by not having it built in. A non built in S pen is a failure if it's intended to take the place of the note

I agree, I cannot have an spen attached to the side and the Note ultra needs to stay. What I see happening is the S line stays, Note dies and fold takes over the Note position with internal spen.

Still unacceptable - I HATE the "Fold" devices, as well! Keep the Note!!!!

I believe the Note will be back next year , there is a chip shortage not only for cell phones but automotive also . You can't take the Note off Samsung shelves unless you want end up being like LG in my opinion. I'm not against Foldable phones and might get one this or next year but the Note series definitely needs to stay .

You don't think the note can move to the S series. Basically the note. Not that screwed up idea of the S21U with the Spen as an accessory. I think it could be moved to the top S series line if they keep it a note per say.

If they make a S series version square with a pen they could but it be A Note then lol , the S series always been round , I personally wouldn't want a Note round .

I know what you mean there. Samsung is going to keep us guessing this year or so. I am kind of surprised they didn't delay the fold over the note is just what has me thinking that way.

I'm thinking they probably have enough supplies for the fold as it doesn't nearly sell as much as the Note line but I agree it be interesting next year , you'll either see me happy or crying

Don't get me wrong I like the S series , I've own every one up to the s10+ (still have it) but Note line I liked more .

I'm a note person also, I also have the fold 2. We will see where the fold goes. I don't dislike the S series, I have been very vocal about the S pen not being embedded in the phone on the S21U, but only because I don't want to see that on the note as the note has been known for the embedded Spen and the fold is to high end to not have the embedded Spen. I get it with the S series not being embedded, it's just not something I would buy. I have also had several S series phones, so I don't hate them.

Totally agree... THAT is a key factor to me on my Notes... having my pen embedded, otherwise, I'd lose it for sure!

There are nice cases from Samsung and 3rd party options that have the spen being able to clip into them.
Flossy has the official Samsung option on one of his reviews.

Why would we want to do that. People keep trying to justify why it's a great idea to not have the Spen embedded. Does that third party case beep at you if you walk away without the s pen? Let the S series have the Spen as accessory, keep the note embedded and have the fold series embedded. The fold is to high end to not have it embedded

That's what I'm thinking they might do, release it all in the time frame the S series is released, the fold will take the note time slot. Just my thoughts
