What problems are you experiencing with the Essential Phone

Here is the problem with the slow buggy camera app!

Everyone should keep their phones and submit tickets to essential. I want the issues ironed out by the time the second edition comes out

I am keeping it. The stunning edge to edge display, cermaic & titanium build and the pure android experience is hard to give up. And I am confident these issues will be ironed out with software updates. Who knows, the Android Oreo update could be just around the corner with all or most issues ironed out!

Any Textra users here? If so, does it work correctly for you or do you have to click lower on the screen than where buttons are located? I'm experiencing the latter. Google Messages and Yaata both work as expected.

That's exactly why I went back to stock messages

I think I may keep this as well. My only concerns were, slight touch sensitivity issues, the camera and no night mode. All of these will no doubt be fixed in software updates, but in the meantime I just ported in the google camera app and that works well enough for me. Now if I can just find a decent night mode app I'll be in business.

check this out, play some music on the phone or a video and turn it up. cover the speaker and it almost mutes the phone. I have not experienced anything like that, this phone is so well built that it is soundproofed, sound did not leak out anywhere else on the phone.

Twilight is a great app for this. I have used it on a number of phones.

The only issues I've had is touch sensitivity. Which should be an easy update fix. I wonder if it has anything to do with the edge less screen as I feel like it's worse towards the edges?

Besides that I am LOVING this phone. The screen and build quality are amazing.

I have no doubt that with some updates this is going to be a beast of a phone.

I can say that I know that they are in the works of an update to push apps to full screen view (like the S8 and G6). I tweeted Essential and Rubin about it and Rubin replied that it is something they are working on. He said that it involves a lot of testing but they are making progress.

Indeed. The vibration motor is also well executed. It makes the phone shake with a short burst of pent-up anger. The solid frame transmits every bit of energy. Love it.

I was going to return the phone but it is growing on me now lol. Andy Rubin's responses on Twitter give me some hope lol. If they fix screen sensitivity and update camera and os promptly I might end up keeping it.

Found some updates for apps in the play store by searching Google that didn't show up initially. One in particular may be good for some of us having issues.

I'm with ATT with no issues. The only issue I seemed to be having at the moment is Smart Lock doesn't seem to display my devices I have set as Smart Lock. Might just he user error. I been fortunate to seem to have no issues other than non existent customer service. Lord forbid I have warranty issues.

Ok update from my side after factory reset and doing a fresh start instead of restoring from my Google backup.

What a difference, finally feels like a 2017 phone
No hangups, screen freezing etc so I'm happy now at least software performance wise. I forgot why I used to start from fresh perviously, got lazy recently since have too many phones and was reverting from my Google backup instead of fresh start. But now I remember why I used to do a fresh start on a new phone before

So those who are having screen freezing, and other software problem and you set up the phone from restoring from backup, it won't hurt factory resetting and setting up as new. Definitely helped me.

That's awesome. Glad you're finally in action. Tell everyone on XDA and Reddit. lol

In developer options I reduced window, transition and animator scales down to .5x just to see how well it works. It feels even quicker. Bare Android might be bare but she's quick.

Lol not my problem.. I'm not an essential PR

I'm glad it's fixed for me and I can get back to enjoy the phone

I restored setup and had 0 issues

Yeah it depends on case to case to basis, I had zero issues on other phones where I restored. But just a suggestion in case people have issues and they did a restore, doesn't hurt trying factory reset and start fresh to see if it resolves.
