What texting apps does everyone use?

I use the basic stock app. I don' trust 3rd party app for mobile texting because it gives an opportunity to the app developer to see the content. I think we have enough of Google seeing our data we can't afford more :p

I agree. I just need a signature. I can't believe the stock app won't allow that. Heck, my Note 4 stock app did.

I've basically been a dedicated Textra user from day one of using Android, but I feel like switching it up a bit. I dig the minimal/material look I can get with it but I'm just wondering if there's a better alternative? Haven't ever really given Hangouts much of a go, or any other apps really. I was interested in using Allo until I read it can't be set as the default app. Are there any that make sending media files/etc a breeze? Occasionally have issues with Textra on that end

I've always stuck with Android Messages but going to try Samsung Messages as it seems to process and compress the live messages better.

I don't see loading extra sms apps when I have a perfectly good one that came with my phone. I use the vanilla sms for texts to mostly everyone. And Hangouts too with my sister and husband. He and I prefer to use Hangouts. And my sister doesn't have a mobile phone, but we can keep an ongoing Hangouts message going... She uses the computer and I can see her messages there or on my phone.

The problem with loading a new messaging app is maybe it's fun for you and you prefer it, but not everyone wants to come on board to switch to it. So I just stick with the basic, plus Hangouts.

I kinda was forced into WhatsApp recently though but if I want to I could drop it and message everyone via regular sms. If you have a lot of international friends, good bet they're on WhatsApp.

When I dumped Samsung for pixel, I found Textra. It does everything I want it to +.

As I'm still new to the Android platform... I'm experimenting (cautiously). I quickly dumped Samsung Messenger for Android Messages...but then found YAATA and seem to like, particularly the chat bubbles.

I also use WhatsApp... but have a bone to pick with them about not having the chat history from one platform (iOS) easily transferable to another (Android).

I've been a long time Textra user, but the stock one isn't bad, I like the small notifications at the top of the screen if I'm on my phone and a message comes in, also like the edge lighting

So I'm using the stock messenger app, t-mobile has their enhanced/advanced text RCS. But how come when my friend and I exchange videos, the quality get downgraded to mms quality. I thought it suppose to be like the iMessage where it doesn't compress the message to smaller files?

I use Chomp and have for a long time. I like the features and can tweak the app much more than stock app.

I like textra but the one thing I can not figure out is how fo send a picture when composing a text. When I choose the plus sign on the left it only shows emojis. Any suggestions?

Me too. I think Textra needs an update for the Note8. Works fine on my S8+.
