What will it take to get you interested in a Pixel 4/4XL?

Won't take much for me. Been rather underwhelmed by the 3XL. Laggy and performance isn't great and I'm hardly a power user. If it wasn't for the camera, I'd probably return it. I'm hoping Verizon has a trade-in promo I can take advantage of as I don't see Google using underwhelming specs again.... they just can't..... right?

Unless they step their build quality up to Samsung’s level and offer up something interesting in the feature set I’ll pass. Was pretty disappointed by my pixel 2xl and later my 3xl.

I find the build quality on my 3 just as good as Samsung. And not only that it don't have the stupid curved screen .

My speakers are louder and my vibration alerts are much stronger
Also the AOD turns off while in my pocket . For some reason the newer Samsung's don't.
Over all I can't really find to many things the s10 is better at . Display is about the only thing Samsung is clearly better at.

Exactly. I also am tired of hearing this. Most other phones of similar sizes have (sometimes far) greater battery capacity. There are just no more valid excuses for $1000 phones.

No matter how good their software is (or isn't) at optimizing battery life, the battery life would be better with a larger battery. I'm just tired of hearing it as well.

They also better provide a consistent, fast camera experience.

Well not trying to defend the pixel 3 to much but the only phone close to it in size is the s10e with a 3100 mah battery . And let's not forget it's a generation newer than the pixel 3 with a 2915 mah battery .
That being said I would love a larger battery in the same overall size phone . But I just don't see it as the pixel is way behind . If the most Samsung could come up with is a 3100 mah battery in a similar sized phone don't expect the pixel 4 to do much better if any .

I actually am starting to have some infantile concerns... Perhaps "thoughts" may be a better term.

I mean this thread addresses mostly hardware changes, but I'm hoping that Google maintains their vision and doesn't start throwing a bunch of gimmicks et-al at the Pixel brand.

IF there's a change in the FPS for something on the front ... may be gimmicky.

This new camera set up .. First time out with more than one rear camera ... may be gimmicky.

The progression of the OS in Q (10.0) .. full gestures, dark modes ... all this stuff ... may be gimmicky.

I just hope that they don'e end up going down the gimmicky path and keep things "fewer, but deeper" when it comes to function over form. The native system is already got a lot going on ... As that list continues to grow, every new line item just has more potential to cause lil issues hear, there and perhaps throughout.

I just hope they show some restraint with the Pixel 4. 3, while I have had zero issues, seems to have been problematic for some users. I believe a lot of that is the same as what's going on with Chrome OS since 70 ... perhaps trying to do too much.

Not much for me the pixel 3 does everything I need and more. Buying a new device every year is not for me anymore can't see spending the cash every year.

The face unlock better be something special, because i would much rather have a rear or under the screen sensor. Bezels don't bother me as I don't really care how a phone looks, but it better perform well at least.

If Sammy actually gives $600 for my 3xl, I might go that route and get the note 10+. The screen, performance and extra storage is really attractive compared to my 3xl. Hopefully their cameras aren't still laughing behind the pixel. I'd love to be able to compare the two before making a purchase though.

Seems the phone carriers keep offering less and less every year.
But keep going up in price.
They act like its eating up their profit puttin in a little more Ram and a little bigger battery.
And a little faster CPU.
Give me a break.
Somebody is fresh out of college and is like a cost accountant.

Seen them do that with security alarm wire size, and it ate their lunch with problems.


I know people who still carries a note 4 and runs a business, 24/7
They can buy whatever they want.

The battery is like a 3220 ah battery.
They like it cause it has , not listen
A removable Battery.
And a SD card.

Samsung's cameras really aren't bad, I guess i just really find them lacking indoors and with any movement (pictures of kids) compared to the pixel phones. If they can batch up here, the note will be amazing and a really great value at $600 off.

Samsung has too many apps that you can't remove.
And I think they get paid for those apps on the phone.

She has it so the Bixby button will not get hit.

I think you can get rid of them by connecting the phone to a PC and running adb commands. Still a little bit of a pain through.

They only allowed for a short amount of words.

You mean Google has somebody that they pay to design phones.
And every year it has fallen short by a year on what people wanted.
Like they got a cost accountant telling them they are going over the top tier profit margin.
But Google who don't have much money , wants to compete with the Iphone.
All this while phone sales across the board are down.
And the prices are very high for cell phones.
You can't tell me for what Mobile phones sell for.
That there is not a huge profit in building a small phone.
Don't think Google is gonna step up on the plate and be nowhere near Samsung or Iphone phones.

They don't act like they are serious.
If they do, they will probably price their self out of the market.

Everybody I know wished they could go back to removable batteries.
How many times have you really dropped your phone and got it so wet that it wouldn't work.
How many times have you used your phone and wished you could change the battery out.
I see folks all the time paying the price to have a Mobile phone taken apart and the battery replaced.

And is it so hard that they can't really make a screen that can be dropped and not be broken.
Give me a break.

I needed a phone .so i bought a 3XL.

See it's top price and a yr behind in hardware.

I can do without being the 1st person on the planet getting the newest updates.
