What will it take to get you interested in a Pixel 4/4XL?

Why hasn't a smartphone mfg not cut s notch in the edge of their phone, and put a pin in it like on a camera.
So you can put a wrist strap on it.
Do when taking a picture, you don't run the risk of dropping your phone ?

I ride a Harley, and my wife takes pictures or videos.
This sure would be a nice thing

Seems like Samsung and a couple other companies hit 400 ah and above
So what's up with smaller batteries.
And no SD card.pixel don't look like they can fit everything in the phone yet.
Looks like they will.still be behind everybody no else.
And you ask what will it take.
Hire some smartphone engineers that can spec phones out.

Tom's guide is not an authority on what's to come. Don't need engineers to spec out phones.... That's done in the board room.

6 Gb ram
And the 855 processor.
We should of had 6 gb ram last yr.
No SD card.

3800 ah battery is still smaller than last years model.
Samsung had a 4000 ah battery last yr.
So how are they going to compete with the S10+ ?
So why get one.
Not enough upgrade for the money.

I just got a new Panda 2XL so the P4 will have to be pretty gorgeous to get me to upgrade. I had a black one but am giving it to my son. The panda is soo nice I will probably just keep it.

Most important for me, by far, is a rear zoom lens. If the 4 doesn't have this, I'll either stick with my P2xl (which is still pretty great) or look at other manufacturers that are putting zoom lenses on their phones.

Samsung's Screen and hole punch for the front camera's
Fingerprint sensor on the rear
Minimum of 6 GB's of memory
Two rear cameras - best camera experience improved and continued!!!!
Minimum of 4000 MAh battery
Quick wired and wireless charging
Headphone jack
storage size of 128, 256
Improved Video capability with better mics!!!
Bluetooth 5

Except for a headphone jack, which i really don't care about, this list looks just like what mine would look like.

I've always gone back and forth between iPhone and Samsung every 2 years but after my P2XL experience I can't imagine going back to either of them now so my choice in the fall will be P4XL or keep my perfectly fine P2XL for another year. If the 4 has most of the things in your list, that would make me very happy!

You might see the notch disappear but the LED is pretty much dead because of the move towards bezeless screens

Okay with I/O down for the year, I'm a bit more fired up for a 4. My interest in tech is rooted in software advancements, so I enjoy I/O a bit more than the fall hardware announcement. This year, it's great to see the advancements that Google is pushing with more on device AI/ML. That got me thinking about the hardware for 4 (and the 5 too) moving more AI on device.

We've discussed before about Google doing their own silicon. Do we see it in the 4 this fall? I mean, if you can put a Titan M chip in the Pixel 3 and you've already developed a smaller custom TPU with the Edge TPU mean for IoT, how much further off can we be from some version of an Edge TPU making it to Pixel?

Might as well turn every Pixel into a mini server right now. Why not the 4?
