Go to developer options, and change the transition animation scales (all of them) to .5x instead of 1x.

You'll be happy you did, and the 835 handles it handsomely.

It's a 'secret' menu you need to enable. You need to go to your Settings, About Phone, then find the Software Info and tap on the Build number 7 times (I believe you'll get a 'warning' about it half-way).

That's exactly what happens. It used to help since it would free up the processor to do other things rather than being busy with the animations, but at this point is really up to personal preference. It really doesn't offer any performance boost, at least not a noticeable one.

This seems to be a 'default' tip for very new Samsung phone. I honestly can't tell the difference anymore, but that's just me. (I mean, I notice the faster animation, but to me that's not necessarily a good thing...especially if it doesn't come with a noticeable improvement in performance)

No...that's me too. I can't notice either. However, I'm sure it's doing something.

I suspect that it does not. IIRC, the animations are part of the launcher. Nova replaces most of that.

Super cool - it's "zero" for me. Somewhere along the line with my S7 Edge, they REALLY gave it a slow animation when I opened up my S-View Cover (with the thing set to just go to the home screen without any unlocking method). Going down to zero didn't help much with that. But now, the S8+ is up and ready to go before I can get the cover all the way open. Much better than sitting there waiting for some developer's worst idea, every time you use your phone.
