where are the updates?

You might try the Verizon method ;
Shut phone down
Simultaneously press and hold volume down and power buttons.
Continue holding both until recovery menu appears.
Use volume down button to scroll down to clear cache.
Press power button to select.
Phone will clear system cache and then reboot.
I don't think that works anymore. I precisely used it, but the last couple of times I tried, it didn't work.

What is the current OS version on the Verizon variant - 7.0, 7.1, 7.1.2?
Is this device slated to get O?
If I read correctly the Verizon model is at least up to the May Security updates?

Thinking of picking one up for my daughter, to replace her Nexus 5X; just want to be sure this device will be relatively current for the next year.

I'm on Verizon. Still 7.0 with April security patch. I haven't heard officially about Android O but I would expect it next spring.

Just checked my phone for updates and see there is an Android system update. It is 474.9 MB . I'm on Sprint. For some reason the update is not downloading.

After a few tries I got it to work.

This never worked on my AT&T variant.

The last recent update on my friend's Note 4 slowed down the phone like crazy. Phone still has good specs, shouldn't be slow. Possible that it was meant to slow down the phone so people would finally upgrade. Idk about LG since it's my first LG phone but it seems to me LG phones use less RAM and doesn't show signs of slowing down.
