more importantly.. note that it may be the exynos variant.. so custom roms may be a little difficult to find.. snapdragon variants have had better luck in the past..

In fact, the opposite is true!
Up until the Galaxy S6, Samsung only used the Exynos chipset on its non 4G/LTE minority, "H", models. Hence, custom ROMs were hard to come by as these models were for a few emerging markets. However, with the advent of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and S6 Edge+, who are all on the Exynos chipset, globally, there has been a plethora of custom ROMs and mods available. Since the Exynos model is the Global model, once again, in around 190 countries, I see no issues with the Exynos models and rooting/custom ROMs/
On the other hand, the SnapDragon model is now only on the carrier minority variants for the U.S. and China and if AT&T and Verizon pursue the policy that they have, with the S4, S5 and S6, they will, if not at first but in future firmware updates, make these models unrootable.
