Where's the 4.0.3 update?

I'm pretty much over the signal issues. Until I start dropping calls I won't really care. What I would love to see is better performance with some of the GUI. For example, live wallpapers are a joke on this phone. And another thing that's irritating is the landscape mode delay and landscape keyboard typing delay.

Those are just a few things that I hope are fixed in either 4.0.3 or upcoming patches.

I would like my volume button sounds to sound off when I click and not after. Also when I tap the power button to put it to sleep that sound is slow to come out.

As it pertains to the keyboard, there is a fix to that by turning off some auto correct that must not do what it says because the auto correct still works.

But yeah, I am pretty sure that AC reported that the phones signal is fine but Verizon says its too accurate. The fix will just make it lie to us like all the other phones already do because they are not as accurate.

I just rooted and installed a 4.0.3 rom. The keyboard lag is gone. That was my major beef too.

Yep. For the folks that are already on 4.0.3 are you seeing any improvement when reported as decibels? In other words does the update improve sensitivity of the phone?

For me, real world use, 3G got better reception in my apt. Thats it. Saw 4G for a hot second, but it never came back in my testing, didnt stay long enough to do speed tests. For comparison...I can get 4G in my apt with the RAZR. Also for comparison...the G Nex with the 4.0.3 radios had better 3G reception in my apt than the RAZR... Never really had a problem with data dropping, and it was lightening fast going back to 3G, 4G when turning off Wifi.

I just decided to not even pay attention to the bars or decibels, even with the 4.0.3 radios. So I dont know if it did or not, went back to 4.0.2 getting ready to send it back to Verizon.

I think you really have to operate under the assumption that the what you have is what you'll have. I haven't heard of anyone getting 'whiz bang' improvements with any of these new radios. I've always said this may be a hardware issue and the more I see the more I think I was right.

I like the phone to much to return or exchange it, so I'll live with it. At least the radio is a lot better than the crappy Charge I once had. Man, if only this phone had the Rezound radio...heaven!

I would have to agree with this. There is hope tho since 3G reception did get better with 4.0.3. But I dont really want to bank on by the time a baseband update comes to give it better 4G reception or can match other phones, other new phones will be out....with hopefully better LTE tech. ICS is nice...but compared to Sense UI or the software thats on the RAZR....ICS isnt that hard to give up to me. That and phone reception took a turn for the worse yesterday. Which kinda caught me off guard cuz phone reception being good on it caught me off guard in the beginning...lol That was kinda the deciding factor for me, as thats what had me going back n forth about keeping it.

But yeah, I am pretty sure that AC reported that the phones signal is fine but Verizon says its too accurate. The fix will just make it lie to us like all the other phones already do because they are not as accurate.

lol... Other phones report the true phone signal. The G Nex reports the true LTE signal... so technically they all lie. Except the LG Revolution, it shows both the LTE and phone signal in the Settings area,

And IMO...since it is a phone I would want phone reception as the priority, not data. Until we get VoLTE, I could care less about an accurate LTE signal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is sitting on it to make sure everything checks out fine.

The unlocked GSM version doesn't have 4.0.3 yet either. They are actually just getting 4.0.2 as of the day before yesterday.

Verizon's got nothing to do with it

Yes, VZW may possibly have something to do with it. Google does the update but has to get VZW approval.

Do you blame them? If something goes wrong, VZW is the one who gets the grief, no time Google.

how can it be any worse? i really don't undstand why it is taking so long to get some fixes out. i don't expect them to fix everything. just fix the ones they can and send more updates later...what's the big deal? this is suppose to be the perk having a nexus..right? silly really

Didn't AC report that Verizon said that nothing is wrong with the phone. That its just to accurate and that the update will make it less accurate. So basically its going to lie to you to make you feel better, but its OK because all other phones lie already.

Yup! There is nothing wrong with the signal performance....just the reporting. Anyone complaining about signal strength should be gone by now since the drop dead date is tomorrow and there is no indication that the radio/software will be given any additional attention.

A lot of my signal issues disappeared after the various outages that VZW had over the past month.

I haven't dropped any calls on this device. I wish I could say the same for my Bionic.

I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is sitting on it till after the 15th so we don't return the phones early. Cause we all know this up date is going to do nothing drastic, but will still wait to see if it does and by then it will be to late to return without a valid problem.

They need to work out the bugs before they release the update. It really is that simple. It is attitudes like the one you are displaying in the above that I think creates the pressure on both VZW and the manufacturers to rush some of these to the market when they are buggy.

Do you really think posts like this influence Google and VZW to push a patch out? "Gee Bob, forget the bugs, let's get this patch out! PaulDroidR2D2 just posted on Androidcentral.com forums that he is pissed and wants it now! We don't want to let him down!".

Now if you told me that same dialogue went, "Bob, hold up on releasing the patch until after the 15th. A mass return of phones is really going to hit our bottom line hard if it doesn't fix the signal issue", I'd be more inclined to believe it.

The signal issue, especially if it is causing you dropped calls, is a valid problem.

They can verify if you are having dropped calls. Call *611 after you have one. They are able to tell if the call was dropped by the network and if you were in a strong/weak signal area when it was dropped.

I called each time I had a dropped call and had them enter it in the record.

Verizon has no control over it. Google will push it when its ready.

Ics is being pushed via Xoom. I assume we'll be close

I didn't say that either VZW, or Google should ignore the bugs and push the update. You might want to re-read what I posted.

It was tongue in cheek, of course, but that is pretty much exactly what you said.

"attitudes like the one you are displaying in the above that I think creates the pressure on both VZW and the manufacturers to rush some of these to the market when they are buggy."

I was jokingly saying that, in no possible shape or form, are some guys arguing on an internet phone forum influencing their decision.

We know they have to work the bugs out. I think a cell radio issue is not exactly the kind of bug that should slip through testing, which means 1) they didn't do adequate testing or 2) they simply can't fix it. Yes, I do think a patch that is fundamental to the phone (phone calls/reception) should be pushed out immediately upon discovering a fix. Think of it as a hotfix, if you've ever played any game.
