Yep. For the folks that are already on 4.0.3 are you seeing any improvement when reported as decibels? In other words does the update improve sensitivity of the phone?
For me, real world use, 3G got better reception in my apt. Thats it. Saw 4G for a hot second, but it never came back in my testing, didnt stay long enough to do speed tests. For comparison...I can get 4G in my apt with the RAZR. Also for comparison...the G Nex with the 4.0.3 radios had better 3G reception in my apt than the RAZR... Never really had a problem with data dropping, and it was lightening fast going back to 3G, 4G when turning off Wifi.
I just decided to not even pay attention to the bars or decibels, even with the 4.0.3 radios. So I dont know if it did or not, went back to 4.0.2 getting ready to send it back to Verizon.
I think you really have to operate under the assumption that the what you have is what you'll have. I haven't heard of anyone getting 'whiz bang' improvements with any of these new radios. I've always said this may be a hardware issue and the more I see the more I think I was right.
I like the phone to much to return or exchange it, so I'll live with it. At least the radio is a lot better than the crappy Charge I once had. Man, if only this phone had the Rezound radio...heaven!
I would have to agree with this. There is hope tho since 3G reception did get better with 4.0.3. But I dont really want to bank on by the time a baseband update comes to give it better 4G reception or can match other phones, other new phones will be out....with hopefully better LTE tech. ICS is nice...but compared to Sense UI or the software thats on the RAZR....ICS isnt that hard to give up to me. That and phone reception took a turn for the worse yesterday. Which kinda caught me off guard cuz phone reception being good on it caught me off guard in the beginning...lol That was kinda the deciding factor for me, as thats what had me going back n forth about keeping it.
But yeah, I am pretty sure that AC reported that the phones signal is fine but Verizon says its too accurate. The fix will just make it lie to us like all the other phones already do because they are not as accurate.

lol... Other phones report the true phone signal. The G Nex reports the true LTE signal... so technically they all lie. Except the LG Revolution, it shows both the LTE and phone signal in the Settings area,
And IMO...since it is a phone I would want phone reception as the priority, not data. Until we get VoLTE, I could care less about an accurate LTE signal.
