how does one get this?
squaretrade.com
another bonus is that it's transferable so when you sell your phone to someone that can be an added bonus and get you more hits
Does Squaretrade pay for a lost phone - can't remember what bar I left it in? That is one thing I really like about the VZW insurance. If you're covered for loss, you're covered for everythingsquaretrade.com

also the price you pay for the insurance and add the deductible is quite high. around $150? just for example, the droid x came out like 8 months ago? its worth less than $200 now (you can probably get one for $150). so at this rate i can save $150 if i dont break my phone in 8 months. and even if i do break it, i can get a month that is "last gen" which at the rate new phones are coming out for android isn't really that much different performance wise.
On what planet can you get a droidx for 150??
on the planet of craigslist buddy. trying to sell mine right now and best off is 170 and it has extended battery and a case. brand new sealed are listed at $230 and lots listed at $200. if there are a lot listed at $200, people are usually willing to drop at least 20$ so $180 is a easy mark.
you guys are nuts.
squaretrade FTW
100 bucks for 2 years coverage and $50 deductible. this includes all accidental damage.

Jeez. Cant find a X in Phoenix for under 250.
You are nuts.
Added it to to homeowners insurance, $27 per year, no deductible, all faults covered, insured for $1000 cash money to cover all apps, and the phone.
Plus, if it breaks/gets stolen in a year, I won't be stuck with having to get old tech, or a refurb phone. I will be able to buy a new phone of whatever new phone is out.
...but doesn't cover theft/loss of phone like VZW (if i'm not mistaken)

Thats about right. Unless its heavily used.
And whats the plan if something happens to your Tbolt in 2 or 3 months?
Not everyone can be as lucky as that guy and most people do not change their phones every 6 months on Craigs list.
Being in a store I can tell you 1 to 2 people a day come in and have to either go back to an old device or shell out a lot of money for the phone they want. No annual upgrades and NE2 (Thanks Iphone) do not help either.
I recommend the ebay method for folks buying cheaper phones not brand new products.
what would i do if i break it in the next month? ummm lets see... use the $600 i have already saved from not paying insurance to buy a droid x for 200$ or less or get a new tbolt for $450-$500 brand new sealed off contract.
