Who will be dropping VZW after their plan ends?

it is a valid point though, a smart move on Verizon's part to keep unlimited past the iPhone release, so that some on AT&T would jump ship. of course, Verizon doesn't want LTE to get bogged down by the massive influx of LTE iPhones with unlimited data which makes sense why they are pulling it now.

Since I keep hearing that Verizon can't throttle lte, these plans make sense. Since they won't gfather unlimited 3G over to 4G, all the iPhone users are screwed when iPhone 5 releases with lte.

I will be staying with Verizon for now, in my neck of the woods the competition just can't compete when it comes to signal and reliable coverage.

I don't care what kind of phone you use, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

"Only" $30 a month savings? For most people, $360 a year in savings is hard to come by, no matter what you're doing. I never have any issues with my Android phones on AT&T's network, so complaining about dropped calls is very region-specific.

Understood. remember the adage "time is money". I work two jobs, and when I need to make a call in my small windows of time that I do have, I can't "afford" dropped calls. and I've done research on websites that track dropped call statistics, and nationally in 2011, two of the three carriers I don't use were higher than verizon, which was number one in this catagory two years in a row. so yes, $360 yearly savings would be great, but again, when I need a call to connect and stay connected, I can't afford to play with AT&T or sprint, and T-mobile's coverage is just too spotty. like I said, people are gonna do what they're gonna do, and I say do what works for you.

I checked ATT...and Verizon will be cheaper for me. But I lose unlimited data on 1 line.

I got a 3 line family plan, unlimited talk n text. Att and maybe Sprint, t mo don't work good. And att might be better in my area than Verizon.

I don't know what imma do

I've been checking as well, and AT&T would be my next choice if Verizon really pissed me off. KC is a good area for them (AT&T). from what I've been able to glean from the internet, but I've had several of their customers tell me they drop calls 4 to 5 times a week. I haven't dropped 4 to 5 calls this year with Big Red. decisions, decisions......

I forget to add...when they go to this new plan....I will save alot of money, but lose unlimited data and 2GB of data..

Some ppl don't believe it, but these new plans do save some of us money. But at the expense of losing unlimited data...

Who knows, maybe they will have share all plans under unlimited talk n text. Like 2000 minutes or something.

I don't think people are pissed about talk or text limits, It's all about the data. We all get shafted when it comes to data. I'm already weaning myself from it, and I still have unlimited data until next July.

Verizon to ditch phone plans, go with shared plans - Yahoo! Finance

How many of us Verizon customers will be dropping their service at the end of their contract?.

I think I will be. I already pay $180/month for me and 3 other phones (kids). I personally use about 3GB a month and my son uses about 2GB a month. It is ridiculous that we will only get 1GB a month....I will burrn through that in about 5 days.

I am seriously thinking of going to a DUMBPHONE or jumping ship to Sprint or Metro PCS.

What are others going to do?

I looked into going back to dumb phones with verizon but they dont have any the standard phones that dont require data plans, because they still do email, web and navigation. Looks like we dont have many options left. :(:'(

They only save you money if you dont go over limit I have a daughter that has done this twice to me she went over talk minutes two months in a row and when she had limited text she went over twice. Each time it cost me $150-$300 I dont consider that a savings it was a profit maker for sure to verizon. And all they did to help was talk me into more minutes an increase in monthly bill!!!!

I will be going right back to AT&T.
I always heard how much better service VZW had and frankly, I haven't found that to be the case for me. So I'm taking my VZW line right back with the others.
It was an experiment and I've learned from it. For me, VZW sucks.

I got a nice phone call from VZW Customer service. Of course the rep was very apologetic for the confusion and the thought of me leaving.

He did exaplin in detail the plans and what it would mean to me. He examined my data usage for the last 6 months and noted that I have (son and I) not gone over 6GB combined ever. So, if and when I go to the new plan, my bill will only go up about $20 to get the 5-10GB plan.

He also made an exception for my son. His upgrade is July 30th which is after the June 28th CHANGER date. So, he made a note on the account that my son can get a new phone before the 28th...well, any phone but the new Samsung Galaxy IIIs. So, we went in that night and he picked a Moto RAZR. It was only $100 and he could afford it.

The good thing is that in Dec. I can upgrade 2 phones and if he doesn't like the RAZR anymore, he would upgrade to the new iPhone 5 (which the rep. did the ol'd WINK WINK). I would be thrown into the new data plan, but we will see.

I did appreciate the customer service and I felt a little more at ease....still not 100% comfortable with the pricing plan...but he did comfirm that as long as I keep my current phones I can have unlimited data indefinately.....so, for the next 6 months I am going to be monitoring my data usage and get an average and then go from there.

Don't forget that the current line-based tiered data packages will still be available after June 28th so someone upgrading doesn't necessarily mean knocking everyone off of unlimited (at least until Verizon decides to change it).

I plan on staying with Verizon and run the phone into the ground and live off the insurance for my upgrades for the rest of my Verizon life so I can keep my data plan.

I can confirm that this is incorrect. The only way to keep unlimited data with a new phone after the 28th is to buy it yourself on a month to month plan. You can keep your current voce/minute plan upgrading after the 28th but you'll have to choose 2gb/$30, 5gb/$50, or 10gb/$80.

Check to see if either of you go over 2 gigs on myverizon. You night be surprised.

Are cell phone companies evil? Of course. Is this price plan bending customers over the counter? Not really. They're saving customers with art least 2 data devices money, giving unlimited minutes/text (empty gesture, mostly just the elimination of minute overages), and hands out wifi hotspot. Is it worth scary new changes to existing customers who seem to think that change is always for the worst? Time will tell. Is it worth switching service providers over? That's your call but I'll tell you ahead of time that it can be a hassle to do.

I can confirm that you're misunderstanding.

If one line with unlimited data on a current family plan upgrades, that line will have to move from unlimited data to an individual line tiered data package.

This will not affect other lines on the family plan that may have unlimited data.

My main reason for leaving Verizon is to have gsm devices and specifically gsm nexus devices. The second reason for leaving Verizon is the cost. Now I regret I will miss VZW network but I see gsm networks will be improving greatly over the couple of years. Lastly I am leaving Verizon for AT&T. I am crossing my fingers that the next nexus devices comes out on AT&T with LTE.

Everyone is acting all butt-hurt but guess what, this data plan isn't the only plan. That is only for people on family calling plans with multiple data plans. It also gets rid of having to pay for tethering and lets you add a tablet for $10 a month. No one is going to be forced into this plan and it's really only for families. The only time an individual should consider this plan is if they are paying for two or more data plan across multiple devices.

We all knew unlimited data would go away at some point, the data hogs should just be glad that Verizon is giving them an option to keep their unlimited. We have two Tbolts with unlimited data and a dumb phone on our plan, but we never go over 4GB a month. We are on wifi at home and I'm far too busy at work to sit around and play with my phone. We'll be able to move to the 6GB a month share plan and save like $10. Plus we get free tethering. The plan works for us.

The only real change is that Verizon got rid of unlimited data and added some new family plan options.

Can you link to a published report that says that Share Everything won't be the only option for new customers going forward?

The current plans should be available for existing customers, sans unlimited data, but it seems as though Verizon doesn't want individual line holders coming over from other carriers.

Follow Verizon Wireless on Google+. They said on there that nobody was going to be forced to the Share Everything plan. I also got word on Twitter that new users had the option of the new plans, but did not have to choose them.
