Who will be toting this phone naked?

Case or no case?

I have had good experiences with the protection invisibleshields provide, but the full body ones were brutal to put on. The screen only one was a piece of cake and it's "invisible.".

I'd absolutely spring for the professional installation on the full body.

The shields cost like $24.99ish, what do they charge to install it for you? And do they make it perfect?

Brutal you say? lol reminds me of Dethklok, and what we should now adopt as the unofficial official song of the ThunderBolt.... Thunder Hores by Dethklok!!!

Screen only is usually $15, full body is usually $25 (but full body is tacky). Besides, for the extra $10 it costs for full body you can buy a new backplate for the phone anyway if it ever got all scratched up

They charge $5 extra to install it for you and normally just keep your phone for like 30 mins while they put it on. And they do it all day so they're pretty good at getting it right. If they screw it up and it starts to peel off later, then they replace it for free

I really liked the name "Mecha" and wished HTC & VZW had kept it. As for a case, no way. The Bolt looks way too sleek. I'll keep it in a pocket pouch.

It's still Mecha in my heart <3

"Mecha" was just the internal codename that HTC used and, like all HTC codenames, was never intended to be used as the commercial name for the device. In fact, HTC uses codenames for all of their phones and those codenames never become the retail name

Examples:

Raphael = Touch Pro
Leo = HD2
Blackstone = Touch HD
Rhodium = Touch Pro 2
Topaz = Touch Diamond 2
Dream = G1
Sapphire = myTouch 3G
Mecha = Thunderbolt

Ahh, full body gives it like a stickiness? Yeah that wouldn't be good. I'd need I to slide in my pocket.

Do you have to get BB's insurance if you want to have it insured if you buy it from them? Or can you have Verizon's insurance on BB's phone? Cause I've always disliked cases and always carried insurance.

On invisible shields, if you buy it at best buy, they will install it for free. They did a perfect job on mine.

At the Invisible Shield store in SF they charge an extra $5 to install the shield for you, and yes they will make sure its on perfectly.

How much will insurance through VZW be? I never got it before but you guys are making me think..

waste. monthly charge and then a deductible. Terrible if you take care of your things.

While I have agreed with this line of thinking in a lot of cases, I am thinking with the high replacement cost the insurance may be worthwhile. It's a lot easier to swallow paying a deductible for a replacement than $600+.

And for those thinking 1 year contracts that likely means you want to flip it on ebay or something 10-12 months from now. Why wouldn't you want to protect it and keep the resale value up?

Just my .02.

Oh, and probably invisibleSHIELD or similar for me.

I work at a restaurant and go to school. So having a phone that is covered for things out of my control is kind of important. If I were at an office and didn't go to school, where everyone is a potential thief, I'd probably opt out of insurance for a $700 phone. But until then...I'm sticking to my $6/month

Every screen protector I have ever seen eventually has some kind of issue, corner gets frayed an bubbles up..etc.

I might think about a case or a rubber skin..but they usually look like crap and besides this is not a small phone...play with a co-worker's EVO 4G all the time...it is a BIG phone. A case just adds to that. I will roll naked and be careful.

Covered for sure I just like to protected. Rather safe than sorry. Probably an OtterBox when they come out however long that will be. Now as far as a screen protector I am not sure which one I will go with....
