Preorders are apparently less than previous devices. If true, not pegging it on the hole as much as current phones are still just as good for most folks.

Sales numbers for Sammy and iphonny preorders were down for for 2018 if I recall so I expect more of the same. I think it's the norm right now. Too much diversity too often. Great for people who a bit later or buy used.

Really? Because everyone would then be complaining that they're releasing the same stale design year after year. Look at all the complaints the iPhone 7 got for being too much like the 6. Companies are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

One of the better reviews liked everything pretty much on on S10+ but he felt power button placement was high. Probably be would be for me too but that's minor.

Is it higher up then the note 9 ? Not going be a issue for me anyways

There is a setting to blank out the area inline the punch. Full screen video and certain apps would override the blanked out area. Not all videos will go full screen and depending on what you're using to view them you may have to pinch to zoom zoom out. The drawback for blanking out the area in line with the punch is that the notifications get pushed down and take away some of your screen. if there aren't already, there will probably be third-party apps to change that behavior so that you could still see the notifications in line with the punch.

There is a setting to blank out the area inline the punch. Full screen video and certain apps would override the blanked out area. Not all videos will go full screen and depending on what you're using to view them you may have to pinch to zoom zoom out. The drawback for blanking out the area in line with the punch is that the notifications get pushed down and take away some of your screen. if there aren't already, there will probably be third-party apps to change that behavior so that you could still see the notifications in line with the punch.

That is unfortunate. I would rather keep it blanked out permanently to hide the hole punch.

For full screen videos you should be able to shrink down. Certain game apps go full screen. I don't think it's a life changer. If you can try it out in person.

The issue is that, due to the removal of the iris scanner and notification led, the hole punch is just a useless black mark on an otherwise great screen.

And I avoid putting games on my phone. They have a tendency to be too distracting.

IMO the hole has nothing to do with it. Like you say, it's that current phones are still very good. Which is a compliment to the manufactures. No real reason to upgrade a phone every 6 to 12 months. The only ones who do are those of us who like to have the latest versions.

You will be able to hide it in most cases. I didn't like the look of the single hole when I first saw the concept. When I saw double I was like "Oh God No! I actually felt the notch was a cleaner look. After seeing the hole in person I wasn't put off at all. It comes down to how much you value the rest of the device. I think it's a worthwhile sacrifice.

Holes and notches won't put off most people from actually buying and shouldn't impact the numbers in a noticable fashion. If I add this phone to my collection I know it's primarily for the newness novelty.

The internal hardware changes are good. I don't know about the camera, but the big features really aren't an improvement for me.

Will I adapt? Yeah, I don't have much choice. Hopefully the Note 10 will fix these problems, otherwise I will probably have to reassess what I will use my phone for.

I almost did. Really glad that I was turned down for financing. My monthly payment on my Note 9 is higher than the trade in offer, but I already have the better of the two devices.

The idea of the hole punch had me on the fence. After seeing it in person I thought the smaller size of the 2 was better and less intrusive. And it is I think, but after using the plus model for a few minutes the screen grew on me unbelievably quick. I'd much much much rather have the smaller double hole punch than a huge notch

I'm the opposite. I prefer the look of elongated hole over the round hole. It adds character compared to a simple hole.

As for the notch.... doesn't bother me at all.

Coming from an iPhone X, I vastly prefer the holepunch 'pill' of the S10+.
